This place is exceptional. The miso soup is usually an afterthought at many places, but it really shines here. We got a variety of rolls, including some daily specials (California roll topped with Eel was a stand out) and some standby rolls. The Carburetor roll, while not the most appetizing name is worth ordering. My favorite roll at any sushi restaurant is Salmon Skin, and this was probably the best I have had almost anywhere. Little bits of nicely seasoned belly meat and crispy skin were honestly the star and everyone at the table really liked it. The pink lady was the only roll that didn't rock me, but the quality of the tuna in there was undeniably good I had just never tried the soy wrap and I missed the seaweed flavor. All in all fantastic quality and price....
Read moreWorst experience ever. Very slow service and waited for almost an hour for our dinner only to find it was cold and before that we had gotten miso soup which also was cold. Send it back and about 20 minutes Later I asked if I could have it to go and I asked to speak to the manager. We should not have to send two dishes that are cold back. We told her our situation and she said she could take off the entree that was cold but she would have to take the it back since I had made it to go which does not make any sense. She also tried to tell me that the entree was hot when she touched it but I tried it and it was not. Total waste of time and money. Ended up walking out fed up with the management...
Read moreI've been coming to Sushi Tozai since they opened, which is quite a few years now. Their friendly service and consistently high-quality sushi keep me coming back. And while I can't speak to their non-sushi entrees as I've never had them, their appetizers like miso soup and gyoza are top notch.
The interior is so cozy and inviting, too. It makes the experience that much more fun.
As for the drink selection: I don't know much about sake, but I've never had one here that I didn't like.
I'll keep coming back as long as they stay open. I really can't say enough good things...
