🌮 La Estrella Mexican Restaurant – Selma, California
Authentic Flavors, Fresh Seafood, and Warm Hospitality
Tucked away in the heart of Selma, California, La Estrella Mexican Restaurant is one of those local gems that instantly makes you feel at home. From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted by the comforting aroma of simmering broths, grilled meats, and freshly made tortillas. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming — a true neighborhood spot where families gather, friends laugh over lunch, and regulars are greeted by name. The service is just as warm as the food — friendly, attentive, and genuine.
On my visit, I ordered the menudo con pata, and it was nothing short of amazing. The broth was rich, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned, with tender tripe and pata that melted in your mouth. It’s the kind of dish that tastes like it’s been simmered all morning with care and tradition — comforting, authentic, and deeply satisfying.
My husband tried the ½ dozen oysters and a shrimp cocktail, and both were impressively fresh. The oysters were plump and briny, and the shrimp cocktail was bursting with bright, zesty flavors — perfectly chilled and full of texture. We also couldn’t resist the guacamole, which was creamy, smooth, and packed with flavor. It had just the right balance of lime and salt, making it irresistible with crispy tortilla chips.
Everything we tasted reflected freshness, quality, and authentic Mexican flavor. It’s clear that La Estrella takes pride in every dish they serve.
La Estrella Mexican Restaurant has easily become one of my favorite places to eat — not just in Selma, but anywhere. Whether you’re craving a bowl of traditional menudo, a plate of tacos, or some of the freshest seafood around, this spot delivers every time. Highly recommended for anyone who loves food made from...
Read moreAs a regular, I’ll say this in the most respectful manner because it can happen to anyone. However, I had the worst experience Today, October 22, 2024, around 3-3:30pm. Me and husband went out to eat to this restaurant. Quickly we got greated, seated and helped which I loved! The service is always speedy and efficient. Today I ordered a plate which were the 2 enchiladas plate, combination. When our plates arrived our waitress (woman - late 30’s or early 40’s probably , black hair ,about 5’1) i believe her name is Sara or Paty ( what it said on the tickets she gave us) .Super friendly. 10-15 min in (we ate about 70% of the food) eating, because I was getting full I realized we were eating CHEESE enchiladas and no wonder I was chocking on the cheese it was too much since they put a thick layer on top. I called over my waitress, telling her we’re so hungry almost done we realized they were cheese when we had ordered chicken enchiladas. She giggles and nodded admitting her mistake. She told us she would make chicken enchiladas for us and would be right out. When they got here she gave us the wrong ticket! Charging us nearly $50 . I didn’t say anything until we got up to pay. (She was real quiet now) pretty sure she caught on to her mistake . But I asked to pay for one plate for the mistake she made. She tried to argue with me saying she fixed her mistake that she was giving us the enchiladas already, I said i didn’t want to since we didn’t finish our plate. She agreed to only charge us one plate. But already then she was arguing with us and had an attitude. We payed and she told us to have a good day, i said you as well. It happens to the best of us. Will not come back again. And I do not recommend Selma...

When we got there we weren’t seated quickly or greated and it wasn’t busy at all .. when they finally sat us down I ordered for my children first as I always do .. and asked for high chairs which they had .. only thing is the high chairs did not have no seat belts and were extremely dirty .. as I asked the server for another one she said all the high chairs were the same .. ( one of my children has autism and I really needed seating for him that was safe and secure ) at this point none of us had ordered only had the order for my children .. so I told the server I’m sorry but we can’t dine here because you can’t accommodate my children … ( yes I usually have a stroller but we were on. Our way to the zoo and only had my huge wagon for both kids ) anyways she thought I wasn’t going to pay for the food or something because she gave me attitude when she saw me packing my stuff and kids .. as I’m paying to leave with the kids food the order want even complete and I had to wait even more for the food and I check the food and it was horrible .. not a family friendly place and I wouldn’t...
