So, this is mostly about the owner of the store but I have eaten here my whole life. The BBQ is dry, and doesn’t taste smoked. It doesn’t have good smoke flavor, and it’s just very sub-par. The hours are all out of whack, they close the doors at 4pm so I guess unless you would like BBQ for lunch, you are SOL. I haven’t actually had their BBQ since 2020 for this reason. This BBQ place has a lot more of a reception for breakfast than it does for BBQ, if that gives you an idea of the quality of the food. I also don’t think for a second that these people are coming for the breakfast, I think they’re coming for the community gathering which is probably the best thing about this restaurant: The customers. That, and the workers that try very hard to make up for their terrible management. So, there’s my review of the restaurant.
Here is my review of the owner: Kim, you hired me to work for you for 3 hours many years ago. This was the first job that I have ever had in the food industry. Before this, I had only ever done automotive and lawn care, but I took a whole lot of pride in every job I ever did.. including this one, albeit very short lived. You had me come into your store, and shadow your cook. I did exactly that, and I paid attention to his every move and followed him around and did my best to get a good idea of what my job would be about.. since, you know, I’d never had a job in food before: period. Well, apparently, after you went back and watched the cameras and saw that I didn’t just force myself onto the grill and start frying the burgers myself within the first few hours of work, and I didn’t immediately know how to do my job just as well as everyone else there who had worked there for years, you told me that I “didn’t look like I was doing enough” and in lieu of that, you awarded me with a $10 bill for my 3 hours of labor (something that I’m almost positive is illegal) and sent me on my way. Well, I promptly got a job at the domino’s just next to your store and I became one of the best drivers at that store. Not only that, I worked my way up to management within a year because I took such pride in my work. I broke records for sales, I broke records for most deliveries taken on a busy weekend night. However, for my first three days of work, they sent me on ride alongs with delivery drivers and would not allow me to deliver a pizza alone until they were sure I understood what’s going on. Whereas I guess you prefer trial by fire, and if he doesn’t figure out how to run the store by himself in 30 minutes, fire him and pay him $3.33 an hour? What I’d like to say to you is that maybe the problem that you keep bringing up in your responses, (which, some of them are WILD, you really lack any measure of professionalism. Why are you typing like a high schooler and catching attitude with your customers?) The problem being: no one wants to work! Are you sure? Are you sure that no one wants to work, or is it maybe just that no one wants to work for someone who treats people the way that you do? I find it hard to imagine that I could’ve performed as well for you as I did for Domino’s, with the way that you treated me, and a whole myriad of other people my age who have tried to work for you. All that I hear about you is negative. You yell at your employees, you are very rude to them, you accuse people of stealing, and on top of all of it, you haven’t taken the blame for a single one of these one star reviews. You just keep saying “you know you can’t find good help”. Kim, you couldn’t find good help if they slapped you across the face and to be honest with you, I don’t think you’d find me crying about it if they did. Anyway, thanks everyone for reading. I hope I convinced you to take your money and go find somewhere good to eat, somewhere like Tops BBQ or Memphis BBQ Company. Your food might be cooked with love instead of with tears of the employees that are being over-worked, underpaid, and...
Read moreI grew up with Coleman’s BBQ in NE MS and it was a real blast from the past walking in to the sights and smells of my younger days! I walked in and placed a Bulk Order To Go and stood absorbing the atmosphere while they prepared it. As a Small Business Owner myself I pay attention to the operation of the business and they have a good staff and smooth operation that will put most Big Chain Restaurants to shame. All the tables were full at 11:00 on Saturday for Lunch and their orders were getting called in a short time, myself and others that walked in and ordered were served promptly (my order was 4# BBQ, 2 qts each of beans, & potato salad, 1 qt each of slaw and sauce) and another crew was taking and filling call in orders. The BBQ was as good as any pulled pork around, the Beans were the Bomb and I understood why one gentleman just picked up 2 gallons of the beans, potato salad & slaw were good also. I was there only about 20 minutes at their busiest Line much Time on a Saturday and was impressed at the speed of service. We have family that moved in the area late May and am sorry it took as long as it did to eat there but it will not be that long before...
Read moreOrdered two Pulled pork BBQ sandwiches, one with slaw & one without slaw, baked beans, & fries. The service was great, even spoke to the owner briefly and she was very hospitable.
The food: The sandwiches were the most bland & flavorless BBQ sandwiches i have ever put in my mouth. I couldn't believe how terrible this food was. My wife tossed hers in the garbage after two bites. The sauce added to the sandwiches did not even taste like bbq sauce at all - I've never tasted any sauce quite like this sauce. It had not 1 hint of sweetness to it, it was not salty, and it certainly was not spicy. I kept taking small bites looking for even a hint of smoke flavor in the meat..... I never found it. The fries were soggy & soft frozen fries, very undercooked. The baked beans were cooked with same sauce that was on the sandwiches, so.....need I say more? The cole slaw on the sandwich: worst I have ever tasted. Not sweet, no moisture at all, no slaw sauce. This was the worst meal. Ended up trashing everything before we ever made it to the interstate. Stopped later in Batesville and ate at Burger King. Pitiful when Burger King can outcook a local...
