Stopped in with the family on our way back to SC. Wish we had just gone somewhere else.
It was extremely busy since it was on a Sunday, I’m assuming. The place was packed, which we hoped was a good sign, but it didn’t turn out that way.
The bathrooms were gross. The doors were covered in greasy hand prints. My wife said that it looked as if someone just stood up in the stall and s#!+ all over the seat of one of the toilets. There were sanitary napkin wrappers hanging out of the overflowing trash cans and the icing on the cake was the nose ring that was on the sink ledge. The place definitely needs a good deep cleaning.
We ordered the pimento cheese appetizer which tasted like straight mayonnaise. Not even a good brand of mayonnaise, either. There was no seasoning in it whatsoever and honestly, the cheese was unidentifiable. It had a firm cottage cheese vibe. Even the raw jalapeños that were placed on top of the mound couldn’t help that scoop of slimy glue. It definitely was not eaten, nor were the hard crackers that came with it. When we put the basically full plate on the edge of the table, no one took it away or asked why we didn’t eat it. I guess it doesn’t matter. The sausage that came with the pimento cheese was delicious, however. My toddler ate half of it by himself!
We then ordered a sirloin and a ribeye along with a basic barbecue chicken dish and our toddler ordered macaroni and cheese. Both steaks were undercooked and tough. The dull knife would not cut through the tough sirloin without causing wrist discomfort. My wife asked the waiter and manager if she could just eat the side dishes that came with it because we didn’t have the time to sit and wait to have another steak cooked when the restaurant was so busy. I choked down as much of the ribeye as I could because I was starving and we had a long drive ahead of us. The manager took the steaks off the bill, which was much appreciated, but I feel that we should have also been comped for the gross appetizer as well. I wasn’t going to ask him to do that though because the small sausage had been eaten.
The mashed potatoes were probably the best part of the whole meal. My wife said they were just fine. The squash casserole was stringy and dry, but it was edible until my wife found a cinnamon apple in the dish. It was then left on the plate.
My daughter ate the chicken but said that her mom could make better.
Our toddler wouldn’t eat the macaroni and cheese without being asked to and he only managed maybe three tiny bites consisting of a single noodle at a time. That’s unlike him as macaroni and cheese is his favorite food. It was super runny, so that’s probably why he wasn’t a fan. He liked the side of fries, though… But who doesn’t like fries?
Over all, we wouldn’t stop in again the next time we...
Read moreAubrey's is the best restaurant I've ever eaten at. The restaurant was designed beautifully and their decorations were perfectly planned out. Everything looked very visually pleasing, inside and out. The restaurant had these four hanging wood pieces to separate tables which were very aesthetically pleasing. I had the cheddar burger with fries. The burger was very good and the fries were very well seasoned with pepper or whatever they used for them. For dessert we had the chocolate turtle cake with ice cream. The ice cream and chocolate cake were both topped with caramel. This was easily the best dessert I've ever had. I've only been alive for 15 years but I don't know how it could get better than that. The cake was very warm and contrasted nicely to the cold ice cream. I've had chocolate cake and ice cream from other restaurants but this particular one has topped the others. The caramel topping made the cake very gooey and made the ice cream taste amazing. I had a migraine when I went into Aubrey's and I took medicine for it but it didn't go away until I had a bite of the chocolate cake. Am I saying that the cake can cure ailments? Maybe. The bar was separated from the dining room which I thought was a very nice design feature. I was interested in the neon signs hung up in the bar, particularly one that had a bicycle on it. The bar had a curved glass window looking into the dining room which was beautiful. They had ingredients and other items displayed as decoration (I assume) which was one of the first things I noticed when I walked in. The food decorations add a nice touch of character to the restaurant. I live in North Carolina but I would definitely go to Tennessee to eat at Aubrey's. New favorite...
Read moreWe order 3 take out meals and we’re just overall kinda unhappy. This was our first time eating here and I’m surprised. I order the baked potato soup and realized I was only given 5-6 actual pieces of potato, the rest as all just watery liquid that didn’t even taste good to me. My husband got a patty melt and complained that it was dry. No evidence of mayonnaise, just cheese and such. His fry’s were also cold, even though we arrived within 20-30 minutes like advised. We both ordered salads with ranch, but were caught off guard by the flavor. It’s not just ranch, it’s garlic ranch. We also order off of the kids menu for my son, which should have included a drink. Didn’t even get one. We only received one roll for 3 people. Theyre also whole wheat as well which isn’t advertised. I have never had so many complaints from one place. I immediately called and asked for a manager in the parking lot because we just spent $50 for food that didn’t even get ate. Well, I got to eat a baked potato out of it if that counts. The manager was kind and understanding and offered to give us a refund or give us an offer to come back and eat on them. But after this, I just wanted my money back and not to even try to eat there again honestly. I am thankful that the manager was kind and understanding but the overall experience of the food ruined...
