We pulled up to the Golden Corral very hungry. That was our first mistake.
We are on a 10 day tour of Tennessee so we eat out a lot. We understand that prices and quality vary and we are fairly forgiving when it comes to getting what we pay for.
This buffet was sub-par for the price that you pay. It was about $21 per adult and that was WAY over priced. We had a Chinese buffet earlier that day at Sakku Japanese & Chinese buffet for $10.95 per adult and it was about 100 X better. The dinner buffet at the Woodgrill Buffet in Pigeon Forge is the same price and far superior food. It's worth the 5 minute drive....
So here is where we at: food was all processed.
We were there for Thanksgiving dinner because the picture at the front door showed a carved turkey and fresh food.
HELLO FALSE ADVERTISING!
You pay before you see so once your in you are sort of invested. The selection was large but it was carbon copies at both ends so it appears like a lot of choice but it's duplicates. The turkey was precut and in greasy pans, the stuffing was boed add water sort of taste - the odd thing is real stuffing is probably cheaper to make in bulk and way tastier.
The mash potatoes and gravy were good, but it's pretty hard to mess that up. The gravy is powder-add water, but I like that gravy so that worked. They sell take out dishes as well and while I tried to get my food I was consistently barged in front of by people getting take out. They would fill their containers then put stuff back and pick new items - not sure I like "the put back" part. Staff should be watching for that.
I assumed dessert would be good because that is sort of hard to mess up. The vanilla ice-cream was yellow because it's not real ice-cream. Thank goodness caramel sauce makes everything better. The pastry desserts were clearly Costco pies.
The staff was friendly and there were plenty on hand in case you needed anything. They were always busy and never standing around. Good staff and that is the big thing this restaurant got right.
Is it the worst buffet we have ever had on our travels? No. Was it grossly overpriced for the quality of food? That would be a BIG yes!

Cheer and happy travels,
