Nice takeout Thai spot. I encourage going early or taking out. We had a family of nine hungry picky eaters craving Thai as we've been on the road for several days. When I say picky, I mean it. We had to order a sample takeout order before committing. Upon being seated at around 8:20pm, we were rushed into placing an order as the kitchen was going to close in 25 mins. We asked for a few minutes to finalize our order. No follow ups for drinks or apps by any of the staff. We did not receive any hospitable vibes or smiles, just the hurry up and order so we can all leave since they were closing at 9pm. I get it, restaurant workers have it tough but this place isn't fast food, and not priced as such. About 8-10 mins had passed, another couple came in and without asking us if we were ready to place our order, the server rushed over to get their order and then with some sass, came over and asked if we were ready and informed us once again, the kitchen would be closing. I responded by saying, we've been waiting for a few minutes which she didn't like. I asked if they could make our "kee-mao" with crispy noodles as many authentic places will charge you more, but can accommodate. They refused but added that they call their pad kee-mao, drunken noodles. Cool, I know some places call it drunken noodles but she made it seem as if I spoke a foreign language when asking for kee-mao to a server working at a Thai spot. I pointed to the menu and it showed "Drunken Noodles (pad kee-mao)" and I emphasized the kee-mao written on their menu, which she didn't like as well. I prefer to use Thai names for dishes, because I am a foodie and Thai food is an important part of my existence. At this point we knew we weren't going to get great service but at least would fill our crave. We mentioned if they could tweak our food by making it less sweet, they said no as the sauce is already made. We asked if they could put less fish sauce, they said no as the sauce is already made. We asked if they could add something to counter/balance the sweetness and saltiness from the fish sauce like garlic, they said no. We asked if they could reduce the amount of the pre-made sauce used and give us some dry chili powder and we could add it on our own, they said no and that they didn't have any dry chili powder found at most Thai establishments. Fortunately, we hadn't transacted at all, not even water was served in the 15 mins of us being seated so at this point, they didn't want us there and we weren't going to leave with a great experience, hence we took our business elsewhere. The take out sample was good, which brought us in the door. But the lack of service drove us out. As patrons, you expect a dine-in full service to be slightly accommodating, this isn't a quick service counter establishment so it isn't unreasonable to request tweaks to be made so customers can get what they want, or close to it. I scored this a four for food and atmosphere, and one for service. I take the time to write these long reviews because I care. As an owner of several businesses, including restaurants, it is important for me to gather feedback and when someone reviews with such detail, I know they have the best intentions of improving the experience for others. This place can be great, perhaps we just picked a bad night. To the lady who served us, do better! I understand things can be hard for staff, but you should reset with each customer as things can turn around very quickly. Regardless, I'll always root for small business, best wishes for...
Read moreYesterday I planned on giving a glowing 5 star review for how delicious (but admittedly overpriced) the food is. Yesterday I had the massuman curry, crab and cheese rolls, Thai tea, and my boyfriend had the spicy fried chicken dish with the same appetizer and drink. Super good. $43ish for two people.
Today we placed a togo order, got some groceries at Kroger, came back to pick it up. We ordered Thai coffee thinking we would like it a lot since we loved the Thai tea. The Thai coffee was not our cup of, well ya know, tea. I took one drink and put it down, not liking it at all. To me, it tastes fishy and too sweet.
I figured since we spent $50 there today and $43 yesterday that it wouldn't be an issue for us to trade our coffees for the Thai tea. We asked the cashier if we could trade them, she had to get someone else, not sure if it was the manager or the owner. I explained that we thought we'd love the Thai coffee since we loved the Thai tea and asked if there was anyway that we could get the tea instead.
Her response to the request was shockingly rude, degrading, and extremely unprofessional I am unhappy to say. She refused to let me speak as she was loudly letting me know over and over that I should have ordered a sample instead of the whole coffee if I didn't know if I liked it. She said that they made it specially for us. Since she obviously had a huge problem with exchanging the drinks that probably took $1 or $2 for her to make , I kept trying to say "Okay, it's fine, I just thought I would ask, we didn't drink any of it." She wouldn't let me get a word out. Once I had said "It's fine," probably half a dozen times, she finally stopped aggressively giving me her answer, she started literally huffing and puffing while pacing from one section behind the counter to the other with a look of irritation and exasperation on her face. She was making a scene which embarrassed and upset me and also made me feel bad forthe poor girl at the cash register who was just trying to do her job.
Also, I ordered 4 of the crab cream cheese appetizer. They come in orders of 3 and you can add individual ones to it, which is what I did yesterday. Instead, they charged me for and gave me 4 orders of the appetizer, so the order was wrong also.
$100 in two days on delicious (overpriced) food, only to be treated like dogs from management who doesn't know how to say "No" politely and to receive the wrong order. It's a shame we had this experience, and I hope no one else has this bad of an experience here. For us, next time we'll go to Thai Palace down the road or Chaiyo Thai and...
Read moreWent to eat here for dinner and my boyfriend and I were excited to try it. The restaurant was at half capacity, not busy whatsoever. We stood at the door and waited to get seated a few minutes before anyone came even though the workers would look up and stare. We let that go. Not a big deal. However, once my boyfriend and I were finally getting seated, a group of 4 older ladies came in behind us and were seated immediately. Once we sat down, we were given menus and looking over them for at least 10 minutes. After that, a family of two adults and 3 kids came in and was also seated immediately, right behind us. Their order, as well as the group of old women's orders, were taken immediately. We heard the entire family order their food behind us who got there over 10 minutes after us, meanwhile we hadn’t even gotten our drink orders taken. I would understand if it was a big restaurant and they just didn’t see us but the place is tiny and they literally all stared us down when we were waiting to be seated like we shouldn’t have been there. Needless to say, we left and will not be back. Really confused why we were purposefully overlooked, very frustrating. I have never had this issue or anything remotely close anywhere else. It worked out though. We found a nice Italian restaurant that runs off reservations and got lucky and was seated immediately there...
