If you are ever in Seymour, Indiana, and you are starving and you haven't had food in days and eating the plastic container seems like an appealing option.... still do not eat at Tokyo Hibachi and Sushi.
The Hibachi Chicken was the worst I've ever had. When I brought it to the management's attention I got excuses and claims that all of the locals like it. The manager wouldn't even try the product to see why I found it inedible. The rice tasted like burnt plastic. The hibachi chicken did not taste like it had been prepared on a hibachi nor did it taste like chicken. When I brought it to their attention the response was "you took a bite out of it now you've got to pay for it."
I told them I didn't mind paying I just wanted to have a good meal. They explained again that everybody local liked it.
I have eaten Japanese food all over the world. I've had fast-food and gas station sushi. I've had frozen dinner sushi. I've also had it in mid-grade American Japanese restaurants all over the US, and in high-quality restaurants. I'm well aware of the broad range of acceptable food can be. This wasn't good enough to match any of these.
I still specifically caution anyone from eating here....
Read moreI love the atmosphere and the customer service of this place. The food is good. The sushi menu is diverse. The food is a bit pricey, though.
I do have a few concerns. One is the variety of the rest of the menu.
I know that in a small town as Seymour that the palette can only be expanded so far but perhaps a ramen menu? Japanese curry and rice? Rice bowls?
These are just some ideas but I think the variety would be welcome.
Second is their take-out service. The phone is often left unanswered which makes ordering food or checking on orders difficult. The restaurant is sometimes closed during hours it should be open. I have ordered food and gone to pick it up only to find locked doors and there is no doorbell or any way to tell if anyone is there or to alert them that you are outside. Apparently some reform is necessary in this regard.
The third and minor complaint is the side salad. It's all lettuce and nothing but lettuce. Perhaps some other vegetables added?
Overall a small but quaint restaurant that will leave you feeling full and happy albeit leaving your wallet a...
Read moreTook my daughter here for her birthday lunch. As you enter the establishment you are greeted by the Asian American atmosphere. It was nice , felt, and looked clean. We had a great waiter. The service spoke volumes about the place. Everything felt like perfection when it came to the food. We had the crab Rangoon , and spring rolls , and shrimp tempura as appetizers. My daughter had the Philadelphia sushi rolls, I wanted more of a traditional steakhouse lunch so I had ordered the ny strip. It was all cooked to perfection 👌 compliments to the chef. The only two things we saw that could be improved upon was the seats needed the vinyl replaced due to wear and tear. They where still comfortable none the less. The second was when I ordered the NY strip I was looking forward to cutting my own steak, and it came cut into steak tips. The tips where still delicious and seasoned perfectly and cooked to my desired cook temp. So in a nut shell, we highly recommend this establishment. It was fantastic and we will...
