Whittemore Ice Cream — Restaurant in Seymour

The ice cream and shakes are very good. The staff was not very friendly, no thank you or word in general when checking out. Maybe an off day as the other reviews say differently. The atmosphere is unique beautiful old building. What ruins it is the signs everywhere saying not to touch anything and to watch your kids. Understandable that kids should not run around freely but they went a bit overboard on all the signs. Definitely takes away from the atmosphere and gives a cold vibe. Cash only is a bit inconvenient in today’s world. Prices are above average and they even charge 75 cents for a few sprinkles. Overall I will probably frequent other shops that are more welcoming and don’t nickel and dime you on toppings.

I believe my review was honest and without “bashing”. Even with the issues, I still gave you three stars as I never want to totally berate a small business unless it’s totally justified. We showed up at 6pm on a Saturday. It was completely dead and I’m pretty sure i figured out why! My husband went in and got a waffle cone for my daughter and I to split. $10 and it was stale! Overpriced and disappointed. Will not be back. Most places are cheaper with fresh items.

Response to the employee: You beg to differ? I’m telling you it was completely stale. I don’t mind paying for something that is good quality. I get frustrated when you charge that much for something so poor. It’s okay to have bad days, but seeing your responses to other people who do anything besides a 5 star review, you can’t hold any type of accountability. I was waiting in the car with my toddler, gave her some ice cream with the spoon first and I had some of the cone once he started driving. We stopped in for ice cream, they have been in business for quite a few years and the ice cream was always very good. Today, they hardly had any flavors to choose from and the ice cream containers didn't have much ice cream left in them. I couldn't believe on a hot Summer day they didn't have any napkins. The guy said the truck hadn't come in with the supplies. If they knew the day before they were out or low on napkins why didn't they stop at a grocery store before opening the store today to buy some. The ice cream drips in the hot sun!They had no inside seating anymore only picnic tables most in the sun and two small tables on the porch.
