New review, approximately 8 months after the 1st experience at Agave Diner - I will up my score to a 3 star based on some quality food and overall potential. However, attention to orders and details are still lacking. First the food. A 3 egg platter with home fries, toast, and choice of meat. Also a full stack of pancakes with chocolate chips and bananas. Overeasy eggs were spot on. The home fries were seasoned very well and they were nice and crispy. The way home fries are meant to be IMO. The toast was toast, toasted to my liking. The bacon? What bacon? Never received the bacon with my order. Pancakes were flavorful. Just note that they are not traditional banana and chocolate chip pancakes. While the pancakes had a few chips inside the pancake itself, the top pancake had a pile of chocolate chips and bananas on it. It was served with warm maple syrup, but no butter. Most people like butter with their pancakes, including myself. Now the service: I did not have an opportunity to ask for my bacon or butter, because there was no follow up by the waitstaff to see how I was doing or if I needed anything. As soon as I finished my last bite, they were there with the check immediately, but that was too little too late to correct any issues. I paid in full, did not mention the issues as they were starting to get busy, and there was no need to cause a delay for other customers. I won't say never, but Agave Diner will not be my go-to breakfast spot any time soon. I do wish much success to the establishment, and hopefully they will iron out a few of these issues upon my next visit.
Original review: 2 star - Ordered takeout for breakfast. Friendly service on phone and upon pickup. Two ham, egg, and cheese sandwiches on English muffins.....both missing the ham. Bacon, egg, and cheese on a Portuguese roll was solid but could have used more bacon to balance out the egg, cheese, and roll proportions. Finally a BLT. Not impressed with the BLT. Two pieces of bacon on each half of sandwich with a half bag of salad greens. Not the lettuce to use on a BLT as it gets soggy, making one wonder whether it was soggy out of the bag or from the bacon. They are new, so I will give them another try in the future. Very good potential if they iron out...
Read moreJust out of nowhere, when being rerouted from multiple accidents on multiple highways, we found this little gem of a "diner." I suppose it is very much a diner of the "rail-car" style. Not what I was expecting when I searched for "diner," but what a refreshing surprise.
This is a retro-style, small diner no bigger than an airstream. But the interior is smartly designed in a linear fashion offering booths, and stools. The owners are on site and engaged in your experience. I had Antonio make some suggestions for me-- some tacos with homemade tortillas that were beyond comparison to any typical Mexican or Cuban taco. Each was delectable, delicious, savory and complex. All were clearly made fresh (but I suspect there was a long period of preparation for each of the meats that came with the tacos. They were all marinated, complexly flavored and shredded to the point of soft, sensual perfection. As for the breakfast fare-- let me just say that anything you order will be served hot, fresh, and with homemade torillas in addition to a bangingly great cup of coffee!
This place is special. You will know what I mean when you dine there. And, I am predicting that almost no one will dine there just once! I plan to go out of my way to return.'
There's something wonderful about Antonio and Lauren. Real, hardworking people who serve their customers and community generously.
I think I caught a hint of what the real secret is to the magnificence (and humility) of the Agave Diner. Their secret...

The atmosphere is so lovely at The Agave Diner, it's a restored 50's stainless steel diner and it is so cool inside. They have a wonderful mural across the wall behind the counter as well. The folks that run the restaurant are always incredibly warm and kind, I always end up chatting with them and the service is wonderful.
The food is absolutely top notch - my favorite dish is the churro french toast, which is brioche bread that has been soaked in magic and coated with cinnamon sugar so it has a slightly crunch exterior and fluffy interior. The savory dishes though are also not to be missed. The longaniza is a house made slightly spicy sausage and amazing in any form you can get it including both the Agave Special and their Breakfast Torta.
On top of the amazing food, their coffee is locally roasted by Alvarium and very delicious. They have multiple different agua frescas, which is always a delight to have!
The Agave Diner is absolutely worth a stop and some of the best food in...
