This was my second time visiting this establishment. It is also the last time I will ever visit this establishment. I came a second time because the first time the food and the service were excellent. However, yesterday afternoon when I went in to have lunch with family, I discovered when the receipt for my payment came I had been charged extra to pay the bill. Management said there was a sign on the door. However, there was nothing on the bill that would have told me I would be charged extra at the time of payment. I didn’t see the sign on the door either. And management justification was “other people are doing it”. When you charge extra to pay the bill you send a message that your business isn’t as important as taking the customer for all you can. When this happens people tend to not tip the server because they feel ripped off, even over a couple of dollars. This is an unacceptable practice and I will not return and spend another dime at this establishment. What management fails to realize is that not a lot of people carry a bunch of cash these days and often only enough to leave a tip or pay for small purchases under $10 -$20. So, when you charge people extra to pay their bill with a bank card or credit card, that guarantees you payment by the way, and retailers pay approximately 3 whole cents per transaction for the contract THEY have with the company that processes card transactions, you take money out of the pockets of your employees. And, for someone such as myself raises questions about the kind of person who owns and runs a business like this, penalizes patrons for not carrying enough non-traceable funds to eat at your establishment for the menu price. Legitimate businesses don’t operate this way and the only time I have ever seen a charge for a card purchase was at some little tiny gas station in the middle of nowhere that couldn’t possibly have enough business revenue to pay the higher fees for processing fewer transactions with the company they contracted with to process those payments; AND I have been asked ahead of time if that was ok and given a choice, AND it was ONLY for purchases under $5. So I have to wonder if some books aren’t also being cooked in the kitchen here.
