Hardee’s — Restaurant in Shallotte

Big Hardee burger: where do I begin... I had a BOGO coupon, thought I'd try it. Ordered via drive thru but was asked to pull forward to wait for my order. 7 minutes later, a staff member brought it to the car and apologized when handing it to me. At the time, I didn't know why. Initial presentation was neat. Plenty of napkins. Opened the wrapper to find the burger a bit over cooked. First bite: too much bun and the bread wasn't soft. Meat had nice flavor but was dry and not warm at all. Delightfully crunchy lettuce but they were super stingy with the special sauce. I felt the sandwich needed pickles and onions and a LOT more sauce or something juicy... I didn't even need the napkins. Definitely didn't rock my world and not even in the same league of a BMac. Overall, having a fresh sandwich could've changed the experience, idk. Lastly, I want to comment about the clear gloves worn by employees. When are those changed? What's the purpose? I saw staff package food with the same gloves used to tap on the order monitor. Also, the employee that brought my food to the car was wearing gloves, but he also wore the gloves back into the building using them to open the handle to the door. Did he change those once he was back...

I read some of the bad reviews & honestly didn't experience those things at all.

One of the cleanest Hardee's that I've been inside in a while. The cashier was very pleasant as well (I've been twice, once during morning & once during the day both were very nice) which is also harder to find nowadays. Will definitely be stopping by more often for breakfast on the way to work.

Accessible entry into the restaurant too. Whether you are in a wheelchair or your eyesight is failing, like my mom's there isn't a sidewalk that you have to step up on to get inside. The parking lot provided a great space to be able to park without struggling to get in or out of the parking spot. However the driveway is across from Hwy 55 so the mix of their customers coming/going + the traffic light it can be a little hectic pulling out during heavy traffic timeframes.

The bathroom is kept very very clean, as someone who's office is their car it's a struggle finding clean bathrooms to stop at along the way so this was a pleasant surprise.

We got in at noon today the place was empty, our order and food was fine and food came promptly, they didn’t even ask if we wanted sauces and they made some excuse about “Coffee not being ready” which is a common excuse bc they don’t want to make, coffee came seconds later so obviously not an issue. Again no customers but I still noticed several dirty tables, so obviously laziness/lack of care, when they brought the food I mentioned the dirty tables and the lady at least cleaned a couple right away. There was no napkins out so we had to ask several times, I dunno if this is store policy but annoying either way. There was trash on the floor and the men’s room was a total wreck including pee on the floor, filthy toilets, dirty urinals, not to mention a sticky floor(dried soda?) and literally someone’s old underwear just sitting near the toilet. They obviously do not care about cleaning nor follow any kind of cleaning schedule. If it was busy I’d give some grace but place was dead. I won’t be returning as this place is poorly run, and disgusting. I can now see why it’s always empty meanwhile the Chic-Fil A, across the street...
