I would prefer to leave a zero, however that is unfortunately not an option. I came in today with friends for lunch as we enjoy the food at George's Linworth Diner, however the service we received when checking out today was completely unacceptable. When paying, I used a $50.00 gift card to pay for myself and one of my friends. Our total was $41.71 and after my gift card was run, I was informed that I only had $8.29 available on my gift card, so I would need to use another card for the remaining $33.42. I figured that I may have misread the remaining balance on my gift card and provided my debit card for the $33.42. After my debit card was run, I looked up my gift card balance to find that $41.71 and $8.29 were both run on my gift card. Upon pointing out this error to Crystal, my server, she said that she would refund the balance to my gift card and just run the balance to my debit card. When I checked my bank account online, it was showing that $33.42 and $41.71 were pending. When I pointed out the error and showed Crystal the proof, I was met with hostility and told that the the funds would be refunded to my account within 24-72 hours. I asked for proof and Crystal denied my request and told me that I can speak to her manager. When I spoke to the manager, Samir, I was being made to feel as though I was in the wrong. He denied my multiple requests for proof (primarily in the form of a receipt) showing that the transaction was either voided or refunded. I let him know that I work daily with a credit card machine and you can in fact print out a receipt that shows that a transaction has been voided or refunded. I know that mistakes can happen, but it seemed as though nobody at George's Linworth Diner wanted to take any accountability for their error, so I will have to take time out of my day to call my bank and possibly need to return to have their error fixed. My friends and I will more than likely not be returning and will be making everyone aware that if they do visit this establishment, to be sure to use cash as it seems as though the staff do not know how to use a credit...
Read moreBreakfast the food itself was excellent, but by the time i got it...it was cold. Cold eggs are a sin. Even the home fries were barely warm still. For potatoes to get like that my plate must have sat there for at least 5 minutes. Don't the waitresses run food for each other? At every moment here there are numerous plates just sitting in the expo getting cold. I've worked tables, and I know that in any respectable restaurant the managers will run food instead of letting it get cold during a rush, and if they can't make it then the cooks themselves will run the food out because you DONT SERVE COLD FOOD. The food was perfectly cooked, but guys, it's not some race to crank out plates that the poor waitresses can't even get out fast enough. Think about the turnaround speed for breakfast, you seat a table of 6 immediately after the waitress places an order for food. Now she is stuck taking new orders and getting all those drinks and it's usually 2 drinks per person a lot of the time and if the cooks just crank the dish out quick and easy BAM that's why it sits there and gets cold. It's not rocket science people. Either communicate better or train someone on expo who can run the food it's a small room it would be SO EASY to just walk the dang food over. A smart cook manager keeps an eye on expo and doesn't immediately make the food if it's gonna get cold or they walk it out themselves. This isnt a BBQ the chefs are clean they aren't slopping around with BBQ or other messy stuff like seafood etc they can walk it over just fine. Give the poor waitresses a break you are making them less money they depend on those tips, and that's why I still tipped...
Read moreDisappointed in service. Went for a late breakfast Monday around 10:30, was excited to check this place out as I just moved into the neighborhood. Decided to sit at the counter. Waitress (blonde lady) asked me what I wanted to drink with her back turned to me at cash register. I tell her coffee and a large OJ. She then brings it to me and walks away without asking my food order. Okay. OJ glass is only 2/3 full but I’m still hopeful. About five minutes later she is once again at the register with her back turned to me and says “Do you know what you want yet?” I say “yes I do” and then wait for her to turn around and acknowledge me. Instead she starts talking to another waitress and takes a phone call. A few more minutes go by and then she finally continues to take my order (back still turned). Food comes out fairly quickly and it looks and tastes good. During my meal, she not once asks if everything is alright and never offers me a coffee refill. Once I finish and stack my dishes she magically appears with the bill. Suddenly she lays on the “sweety, honey” BS asking if I need a refill or coffee to go. This is the most she’s acknowledged me the entire time. I guess I expected at least average service at a local diner sitting at the counter. Food was good, but I doubt I take another chance because of...
