Last weekend I went I stopped in at The Block and the concept is really cool and the workers tried their absolute best to make the dining experience good for us. There are multiple themed bars in there which is creative for sure. However, the themed bars lacked execution. The Das Boot German Bar was lit up brighter than a hospital room and had little to no decorative pieces anywhere that resembled a German bar. It almost seemed like they opened the establishment before it was ready. Not to mention the check situation was a mess. They could not keep track of what anybody ordered and it took over an hour to figure out the check situation. Meanwhile we were planning to go down to the Speakeasy but because the checks took so long we missed the opportunity to go. However we figured that we would try going down to the speakeasy anyways because you would think that the owner/manager would want to keep people in the bar to make more money but the owner/manager actively stopped us in just a very odd manner stating that the Speakeasy was closing down for the evening (it was 9:30 pm on a Friday night). I am not sure if the owner/manager likes money or not but because of that weird interaction, we ended up just going to a different bar. Lastly, the beer is way too overpriced. $6 for an IC Light is actually criminal. I would rather go to anywhere else and pay half of that for a Coors light. I won't give up on this place yet but until this place makes some changes I probably won't be going back...
Read moreWe stopped in after the parade for appetizers and beer. We got seated right away, but then it appears we were forgotten about. Awhile later when someone finally took our order we were told they were out of three of the items we wanted to order. How they were out of 3 items of a special menu for St Patricks weekend on Saturday afternoon before dinner time I'm unsure. I am also unsure how a restaurant manages to only have 3 appetizer type options for one of the heaviest drinks and appetizer weekends of the year. Either way we ordered and they brought the app right away. The chips were way over cooked. My wife's beer was brought right away, but my beer was never brought. 20 minutes later and 3 stop by of the waitress to say she needed to change out keg and still no beer so we left. This is our 3rd straight visit where there was clear confusion by the wait staff on who did what. Not good. I try and support local but don't really want to go...
Read moreSo all in all this place is great in downtown Sharon! The food is really good for the area!! The multi themed restaurant idea is super cool and is definitely a reason to keep coming back! For this visit we stayed on the main floor and hung out in the Irish pub area and we ended up ordering off the German beer hall menu. We got an app of the fried gurkan and an order of the pierogi's and they were both really good. The gurkan was absolutely fried perfectly, the sauerkraut pierogi's were amazing! The potato pierogis were also good, although the potato stuffing could use just a touch more seasoning. Absolutely would order both again as is though! For entrees we got the wurst platte and the steak jasper spaetzle and it was really good as well. No complaints on either of them! Check it out if you get the chance to stop by! Also the drink selection is great and will only get better once their liquor license...
