Wonderful little diamond where you'd least expect it! What a SURPRISE!
Not expecting anything out of the ordinary, I happen to stumble across this little gem totally by accident, sifting thru the local dining coupon website's. After driving up and see the little stripmall it was in, we both were kinda taken aback BUT BOY were we pleasantly surprised and TOTALLY wrong. Boy, oh boy was I WRONG! Offering their take on traditional Haitian dishes, you can't deny that a lot of love, personal flair and a love of Haiti reigns supreme here at Haitian Sensations. You're greeted immediately, sorry I didn't get your name miss, by a very nice and welcoming young lady who went out of her way to explain all we did not understand and make some damn good "stomach loving" suggestions that we won't soon forget. I had the spicy pork, rice and beans while my travelling companion had the same with chicken. Being our "1st time", we decided to also go for the pork sandwich (very nice) and haitian mac & cheese, just to get a taste of as much of everything as we could. We were NOT disappointed! Inside, the restaurant is simply and colorfully decorated with a great presentation and excellent pricing, speedy service and a server with a heart felt "need anything more?" made the experience well worth the trip from Youngstown. We look forward to returning with friends, who ALSO can't wait to go after all our hype! Don't believe me, give 'em a try! I seriously doubt you'll be disappointed. And if you are, you're either Haitian and expect something more like mama OR you have LOUSY taste buds, lol.
Bon Appetit! And THANK YOU Joseph and staff at Haitian Sensation for a...
Read moreToday was my first time at this restaurant and it was great. It's so hard to find goat as an option and to find it at such a great price ($12) makes it even better. The meat appeared to be from the spine area, so there are some small bones, but they were easy to work around. If you aren't ok with digging for bones, it may not be for you, but I don't mind interacting with my food.
My wife got a pork dish with coleslaw, plantains, and rice and beans. The coleslaw was delicious and spicy. I would have never thought to put hot peppers in coleslaw, but I definitely will from now on. And the plantains. They were great. Better than any I had in Haiti - for real. Plantains can have a weird texture if they aren't done right, this place does them right.
The rice and beans, the staple of Haitian food, were excellent here. As good as anything you'd get in Haiti, without doubt. Rice and beans seem simple enough to make, but Haitian food is loaded with spices and seasonings and I've never been able to do it as well. So, I'm glad I can get it here.
This place is fantastic. I can't wait to eat here again. It's amazing that a restaurant like this exists in this area. It wasn't very busy when we were there, I hope they stay in business for a...
Read moreThis is a gem of Sharon, PA. Having spent months in Haiti I know what Haitian food should taste like. And this is it. You have Haiti practixally right on your door step. When I come to this place it is a refreshing reminder of Haitian food and culture. You won't be disappointed by this Haitian Cuisine or coffee. A favorite of my family is the chicken, rice and beans. Ask for the chicken sauce to pour over the rice and beans. Or dive in on a Haitian take of Mac and cheese. Oh so delicious!
The place is very relaxing. Haitian Gospel music is playing in the background as you dine and take in the atmosphere which tries to bring alive the people and lives of Haiti, especially remembering the devastations of the Earthquake of 2010. This place exists to support people who still live in Haiti by donating some of their profits to places like Pelerin.
I give it a five star review for their food, coffee, and dedication to serving the people with the love of...
