Braum's Ice Cream & Dairy Store — Restaurant in Shawnee

Firstly, I want to lead with I have a food safety license and saw many things behind the counter that were of great concern. 2 1/2 gallons of milk sitting out for well over 20 mins (our visit was about 15 mins) and a tub of icecream. A red headed gal saw us looking at it, gestured her hands towards it like “why is this here?” And walked around from one side of the counter through the lobby to another side of the counter and started singing and goofing. Time for this video reference is between 9:30-9:47pm. Secondly, the things you say about what customers order shouldn’t be made into inappropriate jokes such as “extra nuts in their mouths.” Lastly, the trash. It’s outrageous. All over the place. I get rushes, however cleaning as you go is a huge thing. The gent who served our icecream had more icecream on his apron than I had in my double dip cone. We come to this location because it’s just down the street from our house and it’s our cheat night. It was hard to distinguish who was management and who were highschool students. Gent with the apron asked “what do you want” as if we were a bother there. I don’t know if we want to go back to this location. 2 visits 2 weeks in a row and each week was worse than the last. Braum's is consistent. That's sometimes a very good thing. The crinkle cut fries were just right and the burgers just what you'd expect. The chocolate shakes were delicious. This Braum's on MacArthur is an older location, and it really shows. The seating area is definitely worn, and suffers the same usually uncleaned tables even the newest restaurants in the chain are cursed with. Nothing particularly special stands out about this one. There's adequate service and adequate food. It could use a remodel and some enthusiasm. Safe access to Kickapoo is there, as long as you want to go north when you leave. I won't recommend trying to go south, or west on MacArthur. I wouldn't try getting into the lot from MacArthur going west, and unless you approach from the south side of the lot you should just forget the drive through. Today Sunday, August the 8th at 2 pm, I went to this location to get a Burger and fries through the drive-through. After waiting about 10 minutes and seeing the line of cars not moving, I went ahead and parked and decided to just run in and order my food.

The food was delivered in time no problem however, Both the Burger and fries were only lukewarm. I continued to watch the drive through window and I was so very disappointed to watch the Braums employees milling around behind the counter with no one rushing to serve the people in the drive-through. Many were standing around doing nothing-not even at least cleaning up.

I love Braums and eat and purchase groceries at least twice a week and I am so very disappointed!! The employees at this location and on this shift seem to need a very good manager that trains them to be efficient, customer friendly and show them how to HUSTLE and do...
