I came here on a Friday at lunch for ayce and it was pretty busy!I was still seated right away and was impressed by my waiter Chuck or “Batman”. He was really funny and personable. Despite how busy he was he always made sure I never ran out of water and had ongoing banter with all of his tables. I want to give a shout out to chucks service! Their system is pretty unique compared to other ayce places I’ve been to, this place you only have 2 appetizers included in your ayce of which there is a limited list available in the ayce. I’ve never encountered that before and I was a little apprehensive, but I would say the crab rangoons were really good and probably the best item I had! The crab rangoons although still crispy were room temp but the filling was good and I’m sure they would be fantastic warm. I would order these again in a heartbeat! I also got the miso soup which I was also very happy with. The amount of tofu, seaweed and green onion was perfect and the seaweed was all rehydrated which is rare to find in ayce places in my experience. My only critique was the broth was a tad more vinegary than I prefer. Otherwise this is one of the better miso soups I’ve had at ayce sushi places. As for the sushi, it looked amazing but I overall wasn’t impressed,I started with the Shrimp tempura roll which was pretty good, not my favorite as it was a little soggy. I then followed up with the Dragon roll, I was impressed by the amount of eel for an ayce place but unfortunately I couldn’t really taste it due to the amount of eel sauce. This roll was also pretty soggy, I think this is due to the more watery consistency of the eel sauce at this restaurant. Which is also unfortunate. I honestly didn’t really want to finish this roll but the $.75 per piece left over rule was pretty convincing. Next I had the Ahi tuna crunch roll which was not as spicy as I feared when I saw all the spicy mayo, which I personally liked. I will say the crunch was a little stale but other than that it was good. Lastly I had the Rainbow roll, the fish slices were thick but not cut well. I had to physical rip the tuna and the salmon apart as they didn’t fully cut the fish. The fish was also not the best quality, which is to be expected to a degree but this fish just didn’t taste the best. This place is a rare instance where I wasn’t crazy about any of the sushi. The portions were good but the quality control just wasn’t what I was hoping for. This restaurant also seems to have an affinity for asparagus in their rolls which I’m not a huge fan of and did limit my menu options. Overall I probably wouldn’t stop here again on a roadtrip but I can see why it would be so popular with locals. I’d rate this place a 3.3 out of 5

Edit: dropping stars from 5 to 2. Edit#2: 2 to 4 stars now, i've had zero issue since last incident and food is as good as always. Won't leave poor review just because of one bad service, but still not giving 5 stars because of that one really bad time.

If this hostess I dealt with today is the manager and sees this review, shame on you, but your food is amazing though. As a fellow Asian person, i was upset and embarrassed that someone like you can become a representation of our general population.

The only reason for rating drop is unacceptable rudeness and how difficult the hostess is, like a lot of poor reviews here point out. It probably sounds ridiculous to drop the rating solely based on a Hostess but if you were in my shoes, you may understand how difficult she was. This is also my first time writing a negative review on google.

I placed an online order on Saturday, April 18th at 4pm, confirmed for pick up at 4:20 - 4:31. i went in at 4:20 to check in but hostess wasn't there while all sushi chefs were and they told me they open at 4:30PM. The google and their posted operating hours at the door say open at 4PM after their lunch break, if they arent going to uphold their stated operating hours then they need to change it. But this wasn't the issue.

I saw hostess arrive at 4:28 so i went in again at 4:45 to check my order. The hostess said theres no order for my item or anything under my name. i checked my email confirmation and bank account which both confirmed that order was received and acknowledged by the restaurant and payment was deducted from my bank. i tried to show her the proof but guess due to the virus she wasnt willing to come anywhere near me and pretended to be occupied. she threw her hands in the air and rudely told me there's nothing she can do. She didn't care that i've already paid for the food and wasn't willing to work with me.

I called Menufy to verify my order. The agent confirmed with me that my order was RECEIVED and CONFIRMED by the restaurant as COMPLETE. I asked the agent to call her to confirm the order and call me back after it's all settled. I got a call back and was told the Hostess DID receive the order, Acknowledged it, then marked it as COMPLETE without giving me the food. This told me the Hostess LIED for whatever problem she had with me and didn't admit her mistake and made me waste all my time. This was the first time i've come across such a rude hostess.

There was one gentleman who arrived at around 4:30 and had similar issue. Found out he was in same situation where the order wasn't found but his food was being prepared while mine wasn't started till the Hostess got a call from the agent. (????????) The gentleman walked out with his order before me and told me good luck my order.

Menufy agent gave me an option to refund the order but I was already waiting since 3:45 at their parking lot and drove 35minutes because my girlfriend was craving their delicious chicken fried rice so i just told him to confirm the order and make sure Hostess sees it's there. I did eventually receive the food at 5:10PM, that's 1hr & 20minutes after i arrived at the parking lot.

I will probably never place an online with them again only because i don't want to see this Hostess again. I will only go back for Buffet once the virus...

This All-You-Can Eat Sushi Idea Works for Your Belly and Wallet.

I know what you’re thinking: the quality can’t be as good as a traditional sushi house, but Sushi Mido is as good as any place in Kansas City. And I’m OK with your skepticism. Heck, I was reluctant to write this review because I worry if too many people come to this place, they are going to love it too, and I’m going to have to wait hours for a table. Every time I’ve gone, which was before, during, and after lunch and dinner rushes, I always see a steady stream of patrons and a small army of itamaes creating delicious sushi.

They have a good menu of creative and flavorful offerings, but I always go for the all-you-can-eat sushi for $24.95 per person. That option comes with two of the following sides: two crab rangoons, edamame, ginger-dressed salad, hot-and-sour soup, egg drop soup, or miso soup. I love their ginger dressing and have been trying to replicate for home use—it is a great balance of tangy and fresh—they should sell bottles of it. When ordering, they give you a sheet listing all their rolls and grouped them into veggie, cooked, fried, and raw. As you can see in the picture, they have a very robust offering of rolls and it’s always difficult for me to decide which ones to order. I can almost guarantee your eyes will be larger than your stomachs, so be mindful and respectful when ordering. To avoid wasting food, Sushi Mido recommends ordering in rounds of two-to-three rolls per person. After finishing a round, you can always order more, if you are still hungry. There is a $0.75 per piece leftover charge for any unfinished sushi, which cannot be taken home. This is a good policy and prevents gluttony. I will give a hint through: when you are eating, start with the fried rolls first, because (in my opinion) they are the most difficult to eat near the end of the meal, when you are nearing capacity. After ordering, the itamaes take their time making their beautiful rolls, so be prepared to wait. After all, good things come to those who wait. And when your food arrives, you won’t be disappointed; the presentation always impresses me and the rolls are always packed with colors and flavors. The fish is of high-quality and tastes delicious and the vegetables are crisp and fresh. It has always been a great experience; the servers are helpful and knowledgeable about the rolls.

I absolutely love, love,...
