Had the pastrami surprise. And yes I was surprised, surprised I was able to swallow each bit. I have eaten at some bad place across the USA. But hands down the worst place ever. The sandwich was so gristly I could barely even chew it. When that I told them, this was the worst sandwich I ever had. The owner came out and said apparently it never had pastrami. No, I think what he meant to say. Apparently, you never had cheap pastrami pastrami should melt in your mouth fall apart, easily dissolve, not be thick, hard and chewy. Here I pulled this off of google so the owner can learn. No, a high-quality pastrami sandwich should not be tough or "grizzly," but rather tender, moist, and succulent. The pastrami should be so delicate that it practically melts in your mouth, not chewy or dry. If you've had a grizzly pastrami sandwich, it may have been due to one or more of the following issues during preparation: Improper slicing: For the perfect texture, pastrami must be sliced thinly against the grain. Slicing with the grain or with dull tools can make the meat tough and stringy. Skipped or insufficient steaming: Authentic deli-style pastrami is steamed after being smoked to break down the connective tissues and make it melt-in-your-mouth tender. Skipping or rushing this final step leaves the meat chewy. Low-quality or lean cut of meat: Pastrami is traditionally made from fatty cuts of brisket or beef navel, which cook down into rich, juicy meat. Using a leaner cut or lower-quality meat can result in a drier, less tender sandwich. Not cooking to the right temperature: The internal temperature of the meat must reach the right point (typically around 203°F) for the connective tissue to fully convert to gelatin. Pulling the meat too early can leave it tough. The sweet potatoes fries were so oily I took them home a lubed my chassis on my truck. One word, disgusting, low quality The bread of my wife sandwich she swears was cooked in the microwave, then warmed up and put on her sandwich. It was so hard and chewy if somebody thinks this place is got good food then they’ve never eaten out any place else. Good luck I will not...
Read moreHave driven by more times than I care to mention, plus weekly I get 2-3 coupons on the back of my Holiday market receipt . And finally the guys down the street at the Oil Change place, swore by it & gave me 2 coupons!
So Wednesday the 19th, I planned ahead as I left Nino's & called in & ordered a "FAT STEVE"
Roast beef ,pastrami cheddar & provolone cheese, grilled onions, spicy mustard on grilled rye.
Not being a fan of rye at all, I asked Chadd, can & substitute any other bread?
He said we make & slice our own bread, you can have white or wheat or a sub bun, which I do NOT recommend for this sandwich.
So I asked for the whole wheat sliced a little thin please.
see you in 10 minutes Ron!
I walked in, warmly greeted by Chadd, had my sandwich bagged & ready to go, $9 please, provided the coupon, $8 please.
Shook his hand, the cook said hi & a local fellow said excellent is a starting point with his salads .
This sandwich was truly a delight. as it had generous portions of both meats & both cheeses, and the onions were grilled to perfection at the point of beginning caramelizing!!
And the bread, Oh The Bread, was hearty, fresh & grilled just as I had hoped.
I had half for my lunch at 3:40pm & the rest for dinner at 8:30pm
Yes , one might consider $9 a tad bit high, HOWEVER, the high quality of preparation & ingredients trumps the price, plus why not go to the independent guy over JJ & Subway if possible.
Plotting , planning my next visit & selection
PS: he offers hand cut fries &...
Read moreI've been coming to Chadd's for food for several years, since they first opened up the street from this location. You can ask anybody I've talked to, this place was my favorite, sadly I can no longer say that. When you check Google for restaurant Hours, it says 10pm, So you would think showing up at 8:59PM would be A-OK. This is not the case, the girl with the fake friendly smile will come up to you and shoo you out; "Kitchen's closed, but you can check out our Facebook page" she will say to you. Ok, fair enough, you are still open though, why are you telling me to leave, why are you not offering me a seat from the cold to get a drink at the bar you have clearly become, you've been made aware I walked a mile to get here, but I am not welcome even for a drink? why have I come here all these years only to be sent out the coldest week of the year? it would be one thing if this was the first time this has happened, but it is not the first time this has happened, this same girl has shoo'd me out during store hours now multiple times. Once was a Friday when I showed up at what I thought was a reasonable time to get french fries, and now today, one hour earlier because it says nowhere where anybody would actually check that the restaurant actually prioritizes bar patrons while still claiming to be a restaurant.
Sadly I can no longer recommend this place to everybody I have ever met, because if you aren't there to get drunk you aren't welcome (but don't expect to be offered the bar either.)
