This was our first time trying Romero’s. I do lots of reviews, (mostly on Amazon products), and I’m VERY picky. I always include constructive criticism in my reviews. I am not kidding you, for the first time ever I have absolutely nothing negative to say. It was PERFECT in every way. Even the weather was perfect (we chose to eat outside, and never even seen a bug). The umbrella above the table provided needed shade, the light breeze was so lovely, and everything was so clean, even the cement was newly swept.
I was already so happy, then came the food. We ordered steak fajitas. We heard the sizzling becoming louder as it arrived at our table, on a nicely displayed black iron skillet with a wooden base. The strips of steak were perfectly cooked and delicious- not over cooked, not under cooked- the slightest hint of pink strip in the middle. The steak was so flavorful, juicy, and tender- just dreamy. The shells were brought in their own interesting container, and a long oval plate displayed a large variety of delicious toppings. This is the first guacamole I’ve ever liked because I only like straight avocado. It had chucks of avocado in it, I loved that! Everything was so fresh, including the salsa. I am a wimp when it comes to spicy food, so I was very pleased that the salsa wasn’t spicy at all, and I could use the hot salsa to make it exactly how spicy I wanted it to be. The crispy flower (cauliflower) was amazing! Lightly flavored and perfectly cooked, you gotta try it! All the food was fresh, high quality, authentic, and dare I say healthy!
Our expectations were very low. We thought it was fast food because of the low prices- which it was so not. I am totally blown away that you can get such high quality healthy food at such a low price. I am hooked for life.
On top of all these delightful surprises, everyone was so nice to us! We parked our cheap rusty vehicle right in front, and they seen that, cause they were outside sweeping. And by our clothing you can tell we were poor. Still we were treated like rich royalty. Our server, Hunter, was the best waiter we ever experienced having. Service with a smile, extremely patient and professional, there was absolutely no hint of complaint for any of our many weird requests- not in his facial expression, tone of voice, or overall attitude. This is so rare I’ve only seen it one other time. I loved everything- the food, the service, the location, and the all around happy vibe. There was our kind of music playing as a pleasant background noise, though I don’t know if it was from them because all the stores were hooked together, by Vince and Joe’s. (I’ll have to review them too, cause they are the best grocery store ever). We had great conversation, and that was one of the best highlights of my summer.
So I am writing the review I wish I could have read from my future self before going there. Trust me, you cannot go wrong with this place, it’s perfect in every category! (This was so NOT...
Read moreVery disappointed in the owner and servers attitude. We usually come once a month but we will never return. Our 10 friends agree!!
I did everything right. Called days before for my husband and my birthday reservation, (12 adults, 2 high chairs, 2 other kids) and even chose a 3pm early dinner to not deal with the dinner rush on a Saturday. The lady who took my reservation asked if we wanted 1 table or 2 and I said 1 would be perfect so we can all sit together.
When we saw that there were two tables, we asked if we could push them together and instantly got an attitude from the server and owner. The bartender was the only cool one that said it would work. We weren't taking up more space or adding additional tables. We simply were pushing them together to all be together.
When asked why they were upset about it, they said they already set it up for us and what we wanted to do wasn't going to work... clearly in our photo you can see it worked. No apology. No thank you for coming in. The manager didn't ask how our meals were. We were basically an inconvenience. No one in our party had any issues. Other than our original table set up.
What's even more petty - our server kept asking if we wanted a free dessert for our bday. We said sure, we'd split one. Our awesome friends took care of our drink and dinner meals (without us knowing) and my husband already gave his credit card and we were charged a measly .36 cents tax from our "free" dessert. Clearly the server wanted a tip - when I know our group easily gave a $100+ tip.
I'd also like to add, at one point the restaurant was dead. You could have had 10+ new customers who would have brought in more friends but instead our Mexican birthday tradition was ruined. We should have walked out but was hoping the rest of our visit...
Read moreWe went to this place based on all the 5 star reviews. What a disappointment! The food was just OK to below average. It was nothing special. For our family, we ordered burritos, enchiladas and a kids meal. The meat burrito had more black beans and rice in it than any meat. The cornbread that came with it was stale. The enchiladas were equally lacking. Even worse, was the kids meals. The amount of chicken they give was about 1 tablespoon worth for 2 tacos that you have to build yourself. The french fries came without ketchup! When we asked about it, the manager told us they forgot to order it! How does a restaurant forget to order condiments!!?? Don't they have a checklist for ordering supplies? The service was lacking as well. Our waiter couldn't remember our orders. We order extra chips and salsa and we had to remind him. Another glass of soda, same thing. By the time he remembered, we were ready to leave. Then, it's time to pay the bill. He doesn't print it out. He just wants to tell you the amount. Then, he says, if you pay cash, you get a discount instead of saying what's really going on....you pay more for using a credit card. Not sure when these restaurants started coming up with this but here's a news flash...it's going to be the death of your business! Poor service, below average food, and so loud in the restaurant, you couldn't carry on a conversation! We...
