Dairy Dandy Drive-In — Restaurant in Sheldon

Went here on a whim with family on Sat 8-7-21.

As we pulled up to this place, we thought we were at the wrong place. The photos posted online by customers is not even close to what this place looks now. The place has gone downhill since the photos posted in 2019. The inside is lacking basic upkeep/cleaning and updating. First thing we noticed when we walked in was how our feet literally stuck to the floor because it was so sticky! We sat ourselves down at a booth and a teenage girl walked up to our booth. Didn’t say a word to us like “hello” or “welcome, what can I get you to drink”, instead we were met by her just standing next to our booth staring at us, dropped the menus on the table and walked away. She came back shortly and same deal. Stood at the booth with pen and paper and nothing came out of her mouth, just stared at us. We ordered our drinks first. Our drinks came in small glasses with no straws. Once the girl came back my mother asked for straws, as in more than one. The girl came back with a single straw. We ordered our food, which came fairly quickly. The girl sat the food on the table and just walked away. Once she came back to check on us we had to ask for silverware.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Run-down place, basic food, horrible customer service. Will not...

Service is absolute garbage. We waited half an hour for an incomplete order. There is no A/C in this place at all. Had to wait in line in the sweltering hot walk-in entrance for 10 minutes to correct the order and waited another 10 for the corrections (side of ranch, silverware, and potatoes w/gravy. By the time we got situated it was almost closing time.

Pesky gnats and mosquitoes were everywhere inside the restaurant including the dining area. We took the only clean table that was bussed. It was still dirty. It was not overly busy. My macaroon shake had no coconut. Mushroom burger and cheeseballs were very good but not enough to to make up for the way poor experience overall. The ice cream treats are great and the food is usually decent. The place has gone downhill significantly over the last 5 years, though. On our last stop, there were tall weeds everywhere outside, it needs repainted, the signs are in horrible shape and clearly homemade, the mini golf course is very worn, tall grass, and starting to deteriorate, and there's always a long wait, even when not busy. The employees we always seem to get at the counter are often not very friendly, but I imagine it would be difficult to work at a place very long that looks so run down. If you're just after an ice cream treat and don't care about friendly customer service, a quality looking place with nice aesthetics, then you'll probably enjoy your experience. The Cyclones are...
