I was looking forward to a good dish of chili verde. I don’t like my food very spicy. My go to dish is always chili verde. It’s mild with wonderfully seasoned moist, flavorful chunks of pork. I ordered to go. The shop was busy and noisy so I’m glad I opted for take away. Got home unwrapped the cartons ready to dig in. Smell is good. But I was going to be let down. First disappointing item to find: Only about 1/4 Cup or less of refried beans in the carton. It was over whelmed by a mound of rice. I can live with that, not happy because I like the beans but okay. Moving on. Second let down was the sauce on the pork. It is very thin and dark green Not the thicker, more creamy green I am familiar with. Hopefully it will still yield the flavors I am craving. 3rd disappointment: The meat chunks are small. As I bite into one I find it hard and over cooked. If that wasn’t disappointing enough the sauce is about an 8 on a heat scale of 0-10. I asked the server when I ordered to verify the sauce was extremely mild. She said it wasn’t spicy at all. She lied! I added sour cream to try and cut the heat and maybe cream up the thin green, very hot sauce. It helped cut the heat by a small amount but I just couldn’t get past the tough, leathery pork. For $25 a plate it was extremely disappointing. I won’t be...
Read moreBased on the reviews I had expected a nice authentic Mexican dinner. So I took my husband here for his birthday dinner. The restaurant was well lit, clean simple unpretentious. The service was excellent, our waiter was unintrusive but politely helpful when wanted. The food however was a major disappointment. The chips and salsa was served with refreid beans. We liked that and the salsa was OK with a nice garlic and moderately spicy flavor. Our entree’s was served on large plates with plenty bean and rice but the enchiladas, tamale were smaller than average. Our appetizer arrived at the same time as our meal. The shrimp appetizer was tough over cooked. I enjoyed my above average tasting taco and my verde enchilada was decent. My husband also ordered a verde enchilada but was served a roho (red) enchilada. Our waiter did replace it. Added to that my husbands tamale was by far the toughest most dried out tamale either of us had ever seen. The masa more closely resembled a hard taco shell than any semblance of a tamale. Overall a very disappointing end that sucked much of the joy out of an otherwise wonderful birthday. I would have preferred to spend more money for a decent meal than waste the sixty dollars...
Read moreMy husband and I went there. We waited about 40 minutes for our food, yet there was only 3 other couples there too. They bring me my plate and it's cold and I poked my finger in the Chile rellano just to be sure and proof, my finger came out cold but with sauce attached. Then they bring my husband's plate, which at that time I sent my back. So he's sitting there eating and I'm sitting there without. Then my plate arrives Yet, they said they recooked it, although, I still saw the salsa that I put on my rellano still on there just more sauce added on top and cheese. Yes, they microwaved it, the rellano was rubbery. The tamale was nasty. They never came back to ask us if everything is ok. I'm not sure what's going on there. The food prices have gone up, the portions were tiny and the taste was not up to the quality of a good restaurant. Not sure what's going on here but I know for sure, the owner was not present. We spent almost $70 for dinner and drinks. I believe we are gonna take a break from here and try another place. We are really unhappy...
