Szabo's Seafood — Restaurant in Shelton

Wafting above the sea air at the Milford fireworks, was the clean and irresistible scent of fried seafood. I was delighted to find the Szabo Seafood truck and quickly got in line to order one of their 'and chips' meals. I decided to order their fried shrimp and chips at a fair price of $15. The line ahead of me had moved rather quickly, I thought, for a food truck. The two gents in the truck were moving together in a well coordinated fashion. I placed my order and had it in hand within 5 minutes Asked if I'd like tartar or cocktail sauce, I chose both. There had to be at least 10 jumbo, lightly battered shrimp. I didn't count them since I was too busy eating them. These were, without a doubt, the most tender, delectable fried shrimp I had EVER eaten. The chips were also surprisingly well cooked, with a crisp outside and tender inside. I happily dunked them in my leftover cocktail sauce. I was given a fork and a container of coleslaw to round out the meal. Again, I couldn't believe how incredibly tender the shrimp were, and how well the fries were cooked. Bravo Szabo Seafood! Horrible service!!!!!!!!! Called an order in was told it wouldnt be ready till 515 i said ok. Went there at 500 and let em know im here ill be outside watched people come in place order and get their food i went in 520 asked for order and they never took it and now would be annother long wait. While there watched him put customer on phone on hold and forget about it for 10 min then saw phone was off hook and says oops and hang it up not even to check if anyone still waiting on it. I have been getting fish and chips from them not a lot but 2-3 times a year for the last 6-7 years and have always raved about there fish and chips as being the best and freshest I’ve ever had they disappointed me this evening at the Bethlehem Christmas Festival the one I got this evening tasted a little off like ammonia I thought it strange but ate it just the same so I looked up why does my fried cod taste like ammonia? Come to find out if you search that it says that the fish is not fresh it’s old so be that as it may I probably won’t eat here again which is a shame Because I really loved them before...
