Restaurant Review: La Piazza Ristorante Italiano – Sherman, TX
Nestled in downtown Sherman, La Piazza Ristorante Italiano offers a lively and welcoming atmosphere. On a recent Thursday evening, the restaurant was bustling — a promising sign for any local dining spot. Despite the crowd, the staff maintained a friendly and attentive attitude throughout our visit.
La Piazza offers beer, wine, and possibly a full bar, though we focused on the wine and beer options. The menu leans heavily into traditional Italian fare with a few twists.
For the meal, we ordered a variety of dishes. The penne with marinara intended for our child unfortunately came out incorrectly — it arrived topped with grilled chicken and a spicy, curry-like sauce. While the flavors were bold, the dish was not what was expected, and it proved too spicy for a child's palate.
The 16" Primo pizza delivered on size and flavor, boasting a generous amount of toppings like sausage, mushrooms, and jalapeños. While the flavors were fantastic, the pizza suffered from being overly soggy in the center, likely due to the abundance of toppings.
On a brighter note, the spaghetti with meatballs was a classic success. The meatballs were juicy and flavorful, and the marinara sauce, while standard, complemented the dish well.
We ended the meal with a shared tiramisu, which was a delightful cap to the evening. Unfortunately, there was a mishap when our server accidentally spilled a glass of Dr. Pepper on our daughter. To their credit, the staff quickly apologized and comped the dessert, handling the situation with grace and professionalism.
Final Verdict: Despite a few bumps in the road, La Piazza Ristorante Italiano delivers a good dining experience with hearty portions, solid service, and a vibrant atmosphere. We plan to return, albeit with a few different menu...
Read moreWe could not be more thrilled to have this place in Sherman! Everything from the beautiful design, music, service, vibe and of course the food was 10/10, truly. I will be honest when we decided to try it I was expecting a sort of Fazolis-level experience, but we could not have been more pleasantly surprised. The service and timing of food and drinks was absolutely perfect and that is shocking considering they’re brand new. The kitchen was churning out dishes one after the other and EVERY SINGLE THING that went out was piping hot and looked incredible. My husband and I both got their Italian margaritas which I did not know was a thing but they were great (and strong haha)! The bread they bring out first was amazing. We ordered the calamari to start it was great, fresh and not chewy. For the meal we got the lobster ravioli and the pasta combo (manicotti, lasagne and cannelloni) and every single thing was al dente, and stunningly delicious. They could serve the sauce with the lobster ravioli as a lobster bisque and I’d buy it!! Holy moly. We got turtle cheesecake for dessert and it was amazing as well. Honestly we both mentioned we felt like we were not in Sherman, it almost felt like a vacation. Everyone was very attentive and even though the servers were all new you would not be able to tell by the service. We are literally already planning another visit to order their pizza which looked incredible and another order of the lobster ravioli to dip the crusts in the sauce…my mouth is watering typing this. So excited to have this place AND they are open daily?? No weird Monday-Tuesday closings?? This town is going to mess around and be somewhere we don’t have to leave! Great place for date night or a quick lunch, and it’s tough to be the kind of place for both. Wonderful, we are so happy and can’t...
Read moreFrom the moment my husband and I walked in, I felt like I had stepped into a little slice of artistry in Sherman. The walls were textured, with an exposed finish that gave the space a raw yet sophisticated charm. The vibe was modern and eccentric, yet warm and inviting, it felt like the kind of place where time slows down and you can simply savor. Their wine selection added to the beauty, lining the room with elegance and making the whole restaurant feel like an experience, not just a meal.
We’re from New York City, and when I tell you we jumped for joy the moment we heard they were coming to Sherman, I mean it. We literally rejoiced! It felt like a piece of home had arrived. The atmosphere gave us that same energy of a beloved NYC spot, but with its own unique personality that fit so perfectly here.
Now, let me talk about the pizza. Absolutely incredible. My husband and I have traveled extensively, always chasing that one pizza that could live up to our New York standards. This one didn’t just meet our expectations, it surpassed them. Every bite was perfection: the balance of flavors, the crisp yet chewy crust, the freshness of the toppings, it was like they bottled up joy and served it on a plate.
I almost laughed when I read some of the negative reviews, because you can immediately tell those folks don’t have refined taste. This place is special. The vibe, the food, the wine, the atmosphere, all of it comes together in a way that is rare and beautiful.
For us, it was more than a meal. It was a moment. A reminder that beauty, excellence, and flavor can all meet at one table. Sherman, you don’t know how lucky you are to have this gem!
Yours truly!...
