I had already been planning to write a review here, but after what happened last night, I had to prioritize it. We recently moved to Sherman and have been making our way though all the culinary experinces avaliable in the area. Since we are new to the area, we don't know anything about what used to be there, but we have fallen in love with The Post.
My family makes fun of me because of how often I order shrimp & grits. If it's on the menu, especially a place that's new too us, then that is what I order. So I consider myself somewhat of an expert when it comes to shrimp & grits! The Post has the best I have ever tasted! I have been accused of liking things that are too flavorful so keep that in mind. However, if you are that kind of person too, then you must give them a try!
The grits are slow cooked with so many yummy ingredients and are so unique I guarantee that you have never had any like them. The shrimp are nicely seasoned and cooked to perfection. And if that wasn't enough there are a couple dollops of different sauces all around allowing you to experince some other palate variences. To finish it off, a few crispy wontons to add to the level of textures.
We have become known at The Post because of my obsession with the shrimp & grits. Last night my husband stopped in to get some to go. It appears the secret might already be out because unfortunately they were out of them. When Jake, the chef and creator of the grits saw my husband and knew I would be disappointed, he said he wanted to get the ingredients and come to our house and cook them in person just for us! What a treat this was! He also brought us some of the amazing bread pudding for dessert! I am just in awe of this whole experince and we are so thrilled to live in such an awesome little town with such wonderful people! Thank you to The Post and especially to Jake for taking such great care of us!
PS Yall better stock up on extra shrimp because everyone is going to want to try...
Read moreAwful - I ordered nachos for like $14.00 or something. I was amazed at how small the portion was. Comparing this to Taco Bell’s nachos, Taco Bell’s portion is larger. The chicken has seasoning at Taco Bell and it cost less than half as much.
Maybe they should remove nachos. It was kinda how you might imagine nachos in Boston might be; no seasoning and an incredibly poor value.
This place is in Texas and they don’t know how to make nachos. Wtf?
Remember the days when you ordered nachos at a restaurant where you could share with the other people at y ou ur table? Ahhh, the good ole days.
So it didn’t take me long to eat the nachos, obviously. But the flies are absolutely obnoxious at this place. I had to use one hand to swat flies while I used the other hand to eat. I don’t know; maybe there is a nearby landfill or something, but those flies were everywhere. It was gross.
After I finished eating and the waitstaff took my small plate, they came back with one of those twirly things that you set on the table to shoo the flies away. Not exactly a forward thinking group of staff at this place.
There were a group of bikers who pulled up and backed into a parking space just a couple of feet from my table. I guess the bikers like to drive downtown between the taller buildings because it makes their motors sound really loud, which is cool when you want everyone to look at you, I guess. Anyway, the smell of their exhaust and to noise level wasn’t ideal while trying to eat dinner. One of them backed his bike in, put down the kick stand, got off his bike, took his gloves and jacket off, then his helmet, then checked his phone, took a drag in his ecig….then finally decided it was time to turn off his engine. Why would they have motorcycle parking in front of the patio area? I’m sure it has to be similar logic to why they would bring out a fly machine for the table after the food has been eaten.
Not a place I’ll be...
Read moreI've wanted to try their food for quite some time now. After all, for someone to come in and take away so much business from the other 3 "nightlife" attractions in Sherman as quickly as they did, it had to mean they were awesome right!?! Unfortunately our group was largely underwhelmed and disappointed with what we got served instead. Our group of 4 adults sat out on the patio to enjoy the last day of warm weather, have some drinks, and eat. After almost 15 minutes passed, our server appeared, quite obviously annoyed by our presence and the now required work to be done and got our drink order. We ordered appetizers at this time too, the bacon wrapped "chicken wings" (chicken, cheese and jalapeno wrapped with bacon and dipped in your choice of sauce) and mozzarella balls. After another almost 10 minutes passed, our drinks arrived. These were the best part of our meal, but it was 4 beers and 4 shots so I'd hope they didn't mess that up too. 7-10 minutes later, our sad, grease soaked, now cold and completely overcooked apps arrived, and at $10/each, disappointing at best is the nicest thing I can say. Needless to say the excitement and anticipation for our food to arrive had been killed off like a character on "Lost". The only additional comment I'll add to the complaints pertaining to the appetizers that also describes their food is this.... Truffles, although a wonderful, earthy and nutty addition to most recipes, because of this same flavor profile, they don't just go into any and every recipe. Chicken fries steak for example or as a staple ingredient in EVERY SINGLE DISH you serve. This is not Colorado and truffles are not balsamic vinegar. I'll be sticking to only enjoying their bar...
