Sage Cafe — Restaurant in Sherman

Cute place. 1st time diners today around 1230pm. Place was at capacity, but only waiting about 5min for a 2 top. Ordered the mini crab cakes for an appetizer, and they were quite good and the sauce provided balanced them well. I had the chicken salad sandwich on wheat, and my dining partner tried the brisket grilled cheese. The portions of the full are quite hearty. You can pair the sandwiches with house made kettle chips, in house french fries, potato salad, or a fruit cup. We chose the kettle chips and fries, and the portion given was generous as well!. Food was very good, and made fresh, and even though the place was at capacity, we were served in under 30min after our appertizer. We ordered sandwiches, but there is a full menu with salads and entrees as well to try! Staff was courteous, and knowledgeable, decor is eclectic but clean and updated, and although the noise level is high, it wasn't unbearable. All in all, I'd say it's just what Sherman needs more of. Tourist here. First time visit. We stopped in for lunch as we drove through town. Such a great little spot in the downtown area. We had the Reuben, brisket grilled cheese, queso chicken (special), and berry spinach salad. The food was delicious and it was really great to see that they make most everything in house, aka not pre-made microwaved products. The staff was attentive and helped guide us on what they recommend was best for a first time visit. The portions were fair for the price and we all left feeling satisfied. The fries were fresh made. The atmosphere was quaint and very much matched the name. The wall of doors was a nice touch and the place had a very warm feeling. Overall, worth a stop for a nice meal. Very good food and large portions. I couldn't really find a flaw on my first visit.. The truffle fries are absolutely worth the upgrade if you're not calorie countin ;) The crabcakes are tasty and the chipotle sauce is really good with just the right amount of heat. We had a juicy blue cheese burger that was excellent. The brioche bun was very fresh and it had a generous amount of blue cheese on the burger. Add bacon to this burger for an explosion in your mouth. The deviled egg potato salad is also good but the potatoes were just slightly more firm than I desire. I also had a chipotle chicken salad sandwich that was good. The flavors are abundant all over the menu so order half a sandwich and something else rather than committing to a full sandwich.
