I have been curious about this restaurant since it opened. Hubby and I decided to get take out to try the food, and we are so glad we did. And we're sorry we didn't try it sooner.
The food was amazing! We ordered Samosas, the sassy fries, the naughty paneer, tamarind chicken, and spinach lamb. The food was delicious, the portions generous, and the prices are reasonable. Everything was made to order with our requested level of spiciness. It's obvious that the food is fresh and not frozen, and is cooked when ordered.
There are plenty of vegetarian and vegan options available.
The dining area is small, and reservations are suggested, especially on weekends. You might want to plan two weeks ahead if you want to be certain to get a reservation.
While waiting for our food, we noticed that service was quite good. Everyone dining in seemed happy, and several told us how good the food is. Happy clientele is always a good sign. The atmosphere is warm and friendly, and the decor is colorful and inviting.
There is parking behind the restaurant, but note that once you leave the restaurant you need to move your car or it will be towed.
One other thing that I love is that the owners of Rangoli are dedicated to ending hunger, and support organizations with that mission. It's a nice extra to know that the owners are supporting such a great cause, and that by supporting them you are helping.
I highly recommend Rangoli Street Food. You won't be disappointed with anything you order here. We're adding it to our list of restaurants we frequent regularly.
UPDATE: Right now (May 2022), Rangoli is take out only. Don't let that stop you from getting take out! Everything is as delicious as always. And the kitchen was renovated recently to make it easier to cook more delicious food.
Current favorites are the mango shrimp, lamd korma, Tikka green beans, and lamb korma. We're slowly working our way...
Read moreI think there may have been an error in the food we received. It was very bland. We had three different entrees - one with chicken, one with paneer, one with egg and potatoes. We ordered spice level 4. What we got were dishes with a gritty texture, fatty mouthfeel, and no seasoning. There was heat - but no flavoring spices like I would expect South Indian food to have; no cumin, no ginger, no coriander or cardamom or turmeric - I could taste cinnamon but not much else. There was no savory allium flavor, no herbal flavors, there was not even salt. If we hadnât gotten three entrees Iâd have wondered if I was accidentally served a sauce base of some kind instead of a finished sauce. Maybe thatâs still true; but there are a few that echo mine, so I donât think itâs a one-off issue.
I briefly thought about whipping up some tarka of my own and stirring it in. But the sauces were also an unpleasant texture - gritty like cashews that werenât fully creamed, and a bit greasy.
The service was extremely friendly - and I canât say much for atmosphere since itâs take-out only, but the space was pretty. I just really wanted flavors that would send me back to Hyderabad and they were sadly nowhere...
Read moreWe went here based on the reviews, but had a terrible experience... those who have had REAL Indian food before pls stay away... they need to work on their food a lot. When asked the chef for his recommendation; he said many dishes have their own fans and they are all popular. We ordered the following as take out; (1) papdi chaat - CANT call it chaat - it was simply made of an aloo curry with onion tomato topped with broken pieces of papad. It tasted terrible, we couldnât even try eating it, ended up in the trash can. (2) Vegan tandoori burger - this item was basically a vegan patty topped with cut tomato, onion, cilantro on a naan base with some white sauce. i had it in parking lot immediately after taking out, it wasnât hot seemed like prepared long ago. (3) Tikka cauliflower- the chef recommended as their speciality- the most terrible food we had. There wasnât any tikka masala, instead the gravy was made with coconut and cream. The cauliflower was overcooked. All dishes came with garlic naan which was cold. The only thing we enjoyed was plain white rice (made in rice cooker) and side pickle (store bought) Wasnât able to give them less than 1star, since that...
