When I offered criticism (definitely not "mad", but critical) about their super-expensive shipping for "gift cards" and their inability to offer an ETA for delivery of those gift cards, the Owner responded: "This is the weirdest review I've ever gotten. Mad that we're not open outside of normal hours because you need a gift card NOW? $3 shipping for a gift card but mad at how the online discount works? And no, buying something online won't arrive in one hour when you need it There's literally an email address on the website and a phone number on Google maps. The lengths at which you're going here to make us look bad because you waited too long to get a gift card is pretty wild. If you would've just called the number I would have come up and got you a gift card literally 5 hours before we open. Which frankly is easily 5 star service NO normal business would do for you. I suggest you delete this review because it hurts our business and the only problem is that you waited to the last minute to get your gift. "
Wow. So, to be fair, my original review: "OK... honestly, I love D&V and go there every so often for a good beer in a quaint and cozy atmosphere. But today I tried to grab a gift card for a friend's bday, and the gathering starts at 11:30 a.m. D&V are closed until 3pm. No problem. Go online. Select the card. Ignore the weird stuff about a shipping discount. Go to checkout. Realize the weird stuff about a shipping discount is more pertinent than you thought, because, HUH?? there is NO print option. Shipping is 9 dollars!!!! For a piece of paper in an envelope! Are you kidding? Oh, great: 3 dollars if you use the discount code. Yay. But no indication of when the card might arrive. Certainly not in the next hour, when I need it. Probably not tomorrow either. Who the heck ever plans days in advance for a gift card. This level of brilliance is beyond me. But the only reason I'm leaving a review about this? There's no contact info on their website. Nowhere to send feedback. Still... great beer, great service, great ambiance. ;-)"
I stand by my word. Great place. Weird gift card sales. Any other gift card you can either purchase at a local retailer or print on your printer, and be done. Not here. But the Owner doesn't want to hear about it. Ok then. I guess the customer isn't always right. Dude, my criticism was legit, and also respectful. I have nothing against the establishment, but I'm 100% sure your gift card policy lost you some sales today. I guess if you can't take it, you just can't...
Read moreFor two years I have trumpeted this place with out of town friends and to locals. I unfortunately won't as much due to a change in their beer offerings. But the staff is great, friendly, & knowledgeable. The setting is rustic in a good way and has that neighborhood pub feel to it. It used to be my happy hour beer venue of choice and is for many others. I sadly do not go there much since they dropped having an imperial stout on tap, switching it to Guinness. I have had sooo many really good imperial stouts there over the past two years since I moved to Milwaukee from Texas, where imperial stout is a "2 minute" seasonal beer. I miss the great imperials stouts I've had a change to taste. If you drink anything else, this is a great...
Read moreThis place is phenomenal! The beer selection is always changing and always out of this world! The fact that there are two cicerones who work here boggles my mind! I honestly had no idea that was a thing until I came here, and it's a big reason I keep coming back. But to top all those beautiful things off, the atmosphere here is absolutely breathtaking. It's warm, welcoming and inviting. This place calls my name every day I come home from work, and has officially become my "I need to relax spot" and soon to be my "backgammon and beers" spot! Try this place out for yourself if you don't believe me, and come to the same conclusion I...
