My boyfriend and I both got the BTO Mexico. We asked for it with steak rather than chicken. It was served to us with chicken and we waiting for 10 minutes to see someone from the waitstaff to ask for it to be fixed. After it being fixed neither of us enjoyed our meal. The steak had little to no seasoning and TONS of fat. Usually when guests don’t finish or BARLEY touch a meal the waiter should ask was something wrong. The food and waitstaff was absolutely horrible. We tried the Mexico in Ashland a few months back and I think all of the Mexico restaurants have gone down hill. Very disappointed about having to pay $42 for a meal that we didn’t eat and went to McDonald’s right after. Absolutely terrible. DO NOT RECOMMEND
Side note- it was not busy, there were 3 waiters/waitresses, and I tried giving grace until our waiter kept walking around with AirPods in and never spoke to us about anything. The ONLY two words we got out of him were...
Read moreSince I'm new to the area from Texas, I figured I would try this out. I placed an online order and arrived the very minute their confirmation email says it will be ready. My food was stone cold, the salsa tastes like crushed tomatoes with no flavor at all. The portions are very small considering their slightly higher than average price point. Never in my life have I gone to a Mexican restaurant, ordered two burritos and still been hungry until today. They do have a lunch and dinner portion on their menu. I ordered the dinner portion, but something tells me maybe I got the lunch portion --- and if that's the case I got overcharged. The second star is purely because the burritos tasted decent. But considering the amount of Mexican restaurants in and around this area, my advice is skip this one and try somewhere else. There are two other locations I frequent they have just as good of food, slightly cheaper price, and...
Read moreI have been a weekly customer of the Short Pump Mexico for over 30 years. I LOVE this place, but in the last year, something has changed and not for the better. The salsa is still the best, but about 6 months ago, the chips started tasting like old grease and the bag when I get take out is almost translucent with grease. Last week my wife and I came in for dinner and I ordered a Fajita Quesadilla. It was not edible. Opening up the tortilla revealed the ingredients were swimming in a lake of grease. My wife has had similar experiences the last few times here. I don't know if they changed cooks or the management no longer takes pride in the quality of their food, but after 30 years, we may not be coming back. There are too many other better Mexican restaurants in the area. ...
