Poke Sushi Bowl - Henrico — Restaurant in Virginia

The rice was really way too hot and under seasoned. The portions were small and some of the toppings poorly chopped (especially the jalapeños - big chunks and seeds left in). The pineapple was from a can and bland. Also I didn’t order pineapple. The fish wasn’t super fresh, or maybe just sitting with the hot rice for a few minutes made it not taste fresh. Had a slight fishy taste, the kind you don’t want. The Boba tea was awful. The bobas seemed like lumpy gelatin, not smooth or sweet and with a totally wrong texture. Not sure if they were just way, way too old or if they weren’t even tapioca. The tea (I got jasmine) tasted more like watery milk - the concentration wasn’t nearly strong enough and the jasmine didn’t come through at all. I suspect that it was also hot or at least not cold and cooled with too much ice. I wasn’t able to finish anything. Also the pricing was too high even if the food had been decent. I hope to find some good poke soon, because I’m in town for a couple more weeks. Sorely disappointed in this spot. Also felt weird having my food just sitting by the door on a random table all tied up. We used to eat here on average once a week for the past 5 years but may not return again..for the past 3 times we have come, the portions have become half, yes HALF, the size of what they once were. This third time visiting when I asked why they are being so stingy on the fish and toppings now, they said its because they have new bowls and they portions they used to serve no longer fit in the new bowls...i said so get the old bowls, and they laughed. New to the Short Pump, VA area, I’ve had lunch here several times now. I finally slowed down enough to take a picture and write a review. Utterly amazing lunch and concept.

This is the house bowl pictured below. After 3 orders now, I can say the tuna quality has been flawless. Very fresh, very tasty, and never anything leftover.

If you like sushi, but not all the rice/carbs....get the sushi on a salad as pictured below. Very generous portion, very high quality, and excellent price for the quality.
