Southern Maid is very near and dear to my heart. I have always LOVED their donuts and always will. I’ve never had a terrible experience at any location, until this morning. They are usually opened at 6 and I wanted to stop by and get something on my way to work. Well when I pull up (North Market) at 620ish all the lights are turned off and the closed sign is still in the window. At first I thought maybe something happened and no one showed up for work. After sitting in my car for few mins I see people in there working and bringing donuts and such out. The lights are still off and closed sign is still in the window. Well I decided to call and just ask if they were opened yet. The lady who answered was rude and was like “No” and hung up on me before I could even ask when they were going to open. Knowing that they usually open at 6 and their sign says open from 6am-8pm. So this is why I’m writing the review in hopes that this will get back to someone who is in charge and hopefully provide better...
Read moreSomething foul was definitely awry this morning. I arrived shortly after 9 AM and there were several folks waiting, a female clerk, and a male baker. There’s no nice way to say it but the clerk had lost her mind and was scampering around, muttering unspeakable things, primarily to herself. Other than a pile of donut holes and a dozen sprinkle covered donuts, the display case was empty. Apparently they ran out of supplies or perhaps someone called in sick and left them short handed. No explanation was given, but the clerk abruptly closed the store at 9:30 AM and started turning customers away. When I went to pay, I think the clerk “accidentally” dropped one of my dollar bills, and then suggested that I short changed her. Pretty sure that wasn’t the case but if she needed a single dollar that bad, she can have it. My order was completed and the donuts were delicious but this was a very weird, very awkward experience that will keep me...
Read moreI went the other night for some donuts. The cashier told me that it would be about 15-20 minutes. I told her that I would go back and wait in my truck. I witnessed the lady in the back get two buckets to take to the dumpster. She jumped in her truck, pulled down to the middle of the parking lot to the dumpster, got out and opened the lid of the dumpster…emptied the two buckets. She got back in her truck and came back to the side of the building where she was parked. Went back inside. She never washed her hands nor did she change gloves. With those same gloves she used to drive her pick up truck and open the lid of the dumpster was the same gloves she proceeded to go cook doughnuts in. I told the guy next to me outside what I witnessed. It was too late for him because he prepaid. Me….I pulled off. I’ll just continue to go in the morning time where the staff is more...
