The Noble Savage and I have a long history together. When I worked downtown in my younger days, my coworkers and I would file out of the Chase building and right into the “Chef” era Savage for happy hour and some little savages, their bite sized Natchitoches Meat pies dipped in remoulade and drink beer out of dollar off clay pint glasses with our nicknames on them. I love this place. It’s undergone management changes over the years, some for the good some for the bad but right now it seems they’ve hit their stride. It’s clean, well lit, there’s live music every night. A an indoor/outdoor patio quartered off from the sidewalk. The space is more open, more refined. It’s no longer the grungy dive bar but a place locals actually GO to to impress a date, enjoy food and cocktails and eat some amazing food. Their chef offers rotating specials, as well as standard appetizers like the old meat-pies I love so much, and flatbreads, burgers, wings, steaks and what I’ve heard is a hit but have never had an appetite big enough to tackle alone, the tomahawk pork chop. Today I had the mahi-mahi tacos. These fresh flaky fish tacos on flour tortillas lay on top of a bed of house made Coleslaw and topped with mango salsa that added a sweet heat contrast to the well seasoned fish. I also got the strawberry bread pudding. It’s the second time I’ve had it this week. They’ll rotate the fruit out but the plan to keep the bread pudding a staple. Whether you’re going for lunch (parking is street parking but it’s only $0.90 an hour on the weekdays) or dinner (parking is free and the music is too) Noble Savage is back and better than ever. @AmiEatsEverything

My low rating is for two reasons: the manager (pictured here) and the music was WAY too loud. The charcuterie board was better than you'd think it would be, though, so definitely swing for that. This manager pulled our waitress aside (not the lady pictured here; I think that is his girlfriend) shortly after she took our drink order. He berated her out on the floor of the restaurant, pointing at her as he got onto her about something as she crossed her arms and cried. It would be bad enough if he chose to speak to an employee like he did behind closed doors and after a shift, but on the floor?! Him speaking to her for so long caused us to have to wait 15 minutes for our drinks. Later on, the manager joins this table with his girlfriend (black hair) and a couple of friends, where they kick back and share beers on a Saturday night at the restaurant he's supposed to be managing. I found it so rude to the staff who are busting their butts and wildly unprofessional and I would not recommend giving this jerk any of your money.

We recently stopped in at The Noble Savage and decided to go all-in on dessert — and wow, what an incredible decision that turned out to be! We shared every dessert on the menu, and each one was absolutely amazing in its own right. The cinnamon roll bread pudding was rich, warm, and gooey, with just the right touch of spice and sweetness — pure comfort food elevated to the next level. The beignets were pillowy soft and perfectly dusted with powdered sugar, transporting us straight to New Orleans with each bite. Then came the fried cheesecake, which was decadent, creamy, and wrapped in a crispy shell that made it totally addictive. And finally, the crème brûlée was a classic done right — silky smooth custard with that perfect crackly sugar top. Sharing them all was the best way to go — every spoonful brought a new favorite. If you’ve got a sweet tooth, or even just a passing interest in dessert, do not skip this place. The Noble Savage absolutely nailed it.

This was my second visit to this establishment. The first visit was in the evening with a live band. The entertainment was decent. The atmosphere is about what one would expect at a busy bar and grill. When giving my order from the menu I was informed that they stopped serving some specialties after a certain time and we could only get sandwiches. I was there a little before 9:00 PM and they closed at 11:00 PM or midnight. Alright then. I'll order something else. Service was slow. My second visit was for brunch and I brought my family. This ended up being a terrible choice. Though we were greeted quickly with "sit anywhere you like," we sat and waited 10 minutes for a menu and drink orders. There were 2 or 3 people eating at the bar and only 3 tables with customers, including ours. My daughter asked for warm water, as did her children. The delivery was ice cold water. When she questioned this the server sarcasticly asked "what do you want me to do, put it in the microwave?" The server quickly moved on to taking our orders, cutting off any reply from my daughter. My partner and I ordered the Shine's Savage Bacon and 2 Fried Chicken Benedicts. We did not order coctails. They were condiderably overpriced for brunch compared to bottomless Bloody Mary and Mimosa options at most other restaurants offering brunch in the area. The Savage Mary was $25. The Bloody Mary was $10. Mimosas were $6. We didn't ask what made the Savage Mary $15 more. One in our party suggested "maybe it comes with Pork Shoulder on a Stick?" My daughter and her husband had already ordered for their children, but she was still simmering over the ice cold water that sat in front of her and the sarcastic attitude of the server. Despite their hunger after a long list of failures trying to get brunch (another story), they ordered nothing for themselves. My daughter eventually got up and walked out before she got an aneurysm. She sat in the car reading a book for the remainder of the visit. It took well over 45 minutes to get our food. The Bacon was 5 small strips. $10. The Fried Chicken Benedict was good and more than I could eat. I gave a portion to my son-in-law. The waffles that were ordered for the kids turned out to be very good, just not kid friendly with the overpowering Bourbon in the syrup. Don't get me wrong, I would absolutely love to order the waffles if I weren't LADA diabetic. The server eventually took us seriously microwaved my grand-daughter's water. All said and done, I highly suggest eating elsewhere if you're looking for brunch. I may return for their "third strike" if I happen to notice a band I would like to hear, but I'm certain I won't return for brunch. Try anywhere else for brunch. The terrible service drags...

I recently dined at Noble Savage with some friends and had an incredibly disappointing experience. From the moment we were seated, our server's attitude (I believe her name was Becca) was indifferent and unwelcoming. It took her an unusually long time to come over and take our order, despite the restaurant not being particularly busy. When she finally did come over to us, she seemed annoyed and uninterested in answering our questions about the menu. When our food arrived, it was clear that she had gotten our order wrong. We decided not to point out the mistake seeing as she already seemed annoyed with us, and me not being a very confrontational person decided it would be okay that one of our orders was wrong. Throughout the meal, she rarely checked in on us. Our drinks went unrefilled, and we had to flag her down multiple times for basic requests like extra napkins and condiments. Her lack of attentiveness was frustrating and made us feel neglected. At one point, we overheard her being rude to her coworkers, snapping at them and making sarcastic comments. This unprofessional behavior only added to the negative atmosphere she created. At the end of the meal, getting the check was another ordeal. We waited for what felt like ages, and when she finally brought it over, there were items on the bill that we hadn't ordered. Correcting the bill took even more time and added to the negative experience. I hope the management addresses these issues to improve the service quality for...
