This is a really fun outing for the family. Our toddler enjoyed pointing at the fish and trying to touch them in the touch pools. It was safe enough that we could let her toddle around and go where she wanted for the most part. She enjoyed the different activities even if she wasn't quite old enough for them. I love how many touch experiences there are. There's the tide pool, the stingrays, and the jellyfish. Unfortunately the jellyfish were resting when we were there but the baby still got a lot out of the other touch experiences. I love how they have turned the former arboretum into a local plant and animal area. When our kiddo gets older I'm sure we will be doing the mine dig. They actually had some pretty decent stuff in there. I was really impressed with the detail of the settings. It's a great little aquarium for the area. The restaurant has changed a few times but it's a nice setting for events. I feel like we'll end up with an aquarium birthday party within the next few years. If you buy tickets online they are a little bit cheaper than if you just show up like we did. We didn't have to wait though. We were told that if you purchased tickets online for a certain time you can come at any time that day. It's for the whole day. There are snacks in the gift shop and food when the restaurant is open. There are places to eat within walking distance, too. Park at the lot across the street with the fish on it for free. Watch yourself crossing the street. People don't know what...
Read moreIn celebration of my neighbor's birthday we went to the aquarium and at the time they had the "mermaids"! This aquarium was a wonderful experience! Both my neighbor and myself are nature lovers, and this facility, though it's not extremely large, has everything you would want to have a close up experience with. Many ocean creatures and fresh water reptiles and amphibians. They seem to have just about everything you would expect, and then some, of oceanic critters. The mermaids, that swam in the shark tunnel, did a wonderful job! They were beautiful, and children were amazed! And I saw they caught the attention of adult males as well! The costumes were very tasteful, the makeup bviously was waterproof and they did a wonderful job of acknowledging the visitors by close-up waving and blowing bubble-kisses, as well as swimming with the sharks. Children were fascinated and excited seeing a swimming mermaid that also saw them! There is a number of things for children to be interested in as well as adults. If you will have a great experience if take your time to absorb what all this Aquarium have to offer. You can pet jellyfish, sting rays, sea ammenomies and starfish. This facility is not a performance venue, it is not a small Sea World. It's a very nice , well maintained friendly staff nature facility. We look forward to visiting again from...
Read moreDon't let the small size of this aquarium fool you. What it lacks in real estate, it makes up for in activities, exhibit quality, and the staff. This aquarium features tons of opportunities to touch starfish, stingrays, and other aquatic wonders. For a small fee in addition to the price of admission, you can also feed the stingrays. I fed them and have to admit that it was an odd but amazing experience. The staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the sealife at the aquarium. They were very enthusiastic as well and made learning fun for everyone.
There is a restaurant and small gift shop on site as well. My family and I didn't eat at the restaurant, but it had a wonderful view overlooking the Red River. The gift shop had a number of unique items for sale.
The best thing about the aquarium in my opinion is that they limit the number of people entering the exhibits every thirty minutes. This gives all visitors a chance to look at the sea life for a longer time and to touch, feed, and interact with them as well. Pirates and mermaids are on site at certain times, so check the schedule if you want to visit with them.
Admission is reasonable and parking is available on site (small lot) and across the street in a...
