The Buccaneer Lounge — Restaurant in Sierra Madre

The Buccaneer is quite the spot, I’ve been going there on and off for well over 12 years but hadn't been there in a while. Now I know why they call it the Best Dive Bar in LA. The past few times I’ve gone recently, it seemed different, a little better, and the only thing I can attribute that to is the staff. They were great. They immediately made me feel welcome and comfortable. (Maybe they thought I was somebody else? Somebody famous? lol) Vanessa the bartender is awesome. She’s very fun and professional. The guy, Tom, I’m not sure if he’s security, a barback or manager, but whatever he is, he really keeps the place running. I lost my wallet there and got a Facebook message from him an hour later, letting me know he found it. He actually went out of his way to search for me and get it back to me. That's next level service. The atmosphere is fun. Although it’s a “dive bar” the staff seem to take great care in keeping it clean. It makes me realize that the only way to make a dive bar stand out above others is the staff. These guys seem like they really care about the place and the customers, which is rare these days. I’ll be going back more frequently now, and I’ll be bringing some friends. Let’s just hope I can get that strawberry lemonade Booshcraft I love the next time...

Best bar in town! Except for Tony, who blocked my music from Die Antwoord from the juke box it's great. Nice and dim interior when you want to get your drink on unnoticed. But you'll probably see everyone in town you know. They always have the day's comics from the LA Times above the urinal. There's darts and pool if Frank isn't running the table. This is a snall, fun bar that has some great bands that come in a play music. The crowd is always friendly and gets into the music and the rhythm of the evening. The atmosphere is eclectic with old pirate paintings on the wall that lend themselves to theme of the bar. Service has always been good.
