Read the reviews thinking this place was a hit. First walking in you are not greeted with any kind of kindness. Sitting down we had the lovely view of dirty plates and part of the kitchen. When the waitress came over the only thing stated was "what do you want and tell me", the harshness was off-putting. My husband and I both ordered from the special's menu ($8.25). I ordered over easy eggs and was greeted with barely cooked eggs. The white part of the egg was so runny and clear like it barely touched the stove to where I could not really eat them. The bacon was a redeeming factor but didn't help with the lack of hashbrowns. You get about 3 bites of hashbrowns with your order. I grabbed a water, and the cup was dirty on the rim, so very hard to enjoy a breakfast with no drink. They also lied on their menu; the prices are not $8.25 like stated. Instead, they are $9.75 now while that is not a crazy price for breakfast it is disheartening to see a $1.50 price change from what the menu stated. My husband could not even enjoy his food as the bacon had hair on it and his scrambled eggs lacked any kind of resemblance to eggs and severely lacked flavor. Also keep in mind you are charged for every single cup of coffee you drink so we stuck with 1 between us both. This is one place we will not be visiting again. Please look at the menu carefully if you do decide to try this place even with my discouragement of that. They have rules on their meals such as no sharing is allowed on meals as well as for drinks. Double check with waitress if you can get them to actually come to check on your table, if the prices are accurate for the meal you want. We didn't have kids with us, but kids are not allowed refills on any drink without a charge for a full drink amount. (Adults get one free refill so you would assume kids would be treated the same.) Does not seem like an atmosphere I would bring my kid into. Overall, the place seemed dingey and sticky. Tables lack a good wipe down and silverware is just thrown in a napkin and crumpled. 0/10 would...
Read moreI've been a business owner so I try to only write positive reviews to support businesses that I'm fond of but I feel strongly inclined to write about Cafe Ole today. I am writing this to help the community and I mean no ill will to Cafe Ole and their staff.
I've tried this restaurant about 6 times now because I really want to like it. I love supporting local business. However, every time I've been here I'm treated poorly. The servers literally grit their teeth and give stink eye at me throughout every single experience I've had here. I'm compassionate if they're unhappy but why take it out on their customers? Today I'm literally wearing a shirt covered in smiley faces and have tried gently engaging them with gentle energy and sweetness and they are NOT having it. Which is fine. I didn't come here to be best friends with the staff. I did come here to relax and enjoy a good meal and none of those hopes are being fulfilled.
Their tuna salad tastes like metal and the menu says it has crunchy celery and green onion in it, but it doesn't. it's a sad offering with a little mayo in it and that's it. The salad looked like they threw lettuce in the bowl with the message, "Yes, your right, we really don't need or want your business. Don't come back!!" 😠 Duly noted. Today is definitely my last try. The world is full enough with toxic people. Why choose to subject yourself to poor treatment?
I understand that locals like this place. I have witnessed the staff treating others with kindness and respect and that's a good thing, indeed. I'm happy for those people.
I wish Cafe Ole the best and goodbye. I only support places that treat ALL their customers with respect, like a valued customer who is paying them money to support their business and this restaurant has proven, over and over again, that it is truly not one of those kinds of treasured places for me here in...
Read moreSo let me just start off by saying I was hesitant to go into the restaurant after smelling some weird, bad smelling water outside. We decided to try this place out because it got better reviews than bad. Well I could've of gone without out giving them a try. We got seated quickly, but right next to two other people, might as well as been sitting with them, that's how close we were. The waitress asked us what we wanted to drink, and I said coffee and water, and before I could even ask for more creamer, she was gone. We finally were able to get more one of the times she asked if we were ready to order. I also was never able to get more napkins. The waitress was very short. This was our first time in the establishment, and we didn't know what we wanted, so it took a while for us to look over the menu and to decide. Every time she would come over and ask if we were ready and we said no, she would look visible irritated and walk away. When we were finally ready to order, she just said, "tell me." When we asked for more coffee, she poured it not just into our cups but all over the table. The place was also kind of dirty and had food all over the walls. They could use a renovation. Once we finally got our orders, it didn't get better. I got the corn beef and hash and my husband the biscuit and gravy with sausage, which did come out pretty quickly. The food had barely any seasoning. My food, the meat, especially smelt and slightly tasted like and kind of reminded me of the smell of wet dog. I also had big pieces of fat still left on the meat, which made me not want to eat more as well. My husbands sausages had barely any flavor. Most of the silver ware and cups appeared dirty or beyond their usage and needed to be replaced.
The only good things, was service was fast. Coffee was okay. They also were very friendly to regulars and knew their...
