Love this place, staff friendly and helpful. I enjoy the food and atmosphere. Desserts are wonderful!
Updated 7/15/23 After several trips here never a problem til my last visit, sat at the bar on Wednesday and ordered two meals, one to go, waited almost an hour to even get my food. Told them to just make it all to go at the 35 minute point(after appetizers). Waited another 15 mins after that to get a ticket (still no food)and another 10 for them to pay it. At this point I’m aggravated because it’s really not that busy… called the manager after I left and explained what just happened. He was going to call me back the next day. I called back Saturday for an update. He never called me back. Also let him know the fish in one order was too fishy to eat. He offered me a free meal since I was there alone. He also blamed it all on the server who I sat and watched her put my order in. It was not her fault. Forget that I had appetizers two meals and dessert. If I had said something while I was there it would have been different.(his words)Sir, you should reconsider how you speak to someone. My being alone should not have played into that at all. And I called you right after I left and asked if I should come back! You told me not too. Yes I asked for a refund on the two meals, you offered one meal. Again, I do not eat out often, because, I too am busy with 2 jobs and my one day to enjoy a hot meal out was a bust. I was not going to leave a review if handled in a fair way, but in this case I will eat that cost and make sure everyone knows. I have worked in steak houses, I know the expected times and I know this should never have happened to begin with. He also worked the kitchen that night. If you make a mistake claim it, better yet just handle it and not blame someone else. I will not be back. My question now, “ if I had had someone else with me, would it have made a difference?” Hummm… again this is more about the attitude from the manager then the whole ordeal...
Read moreLet me start by saying our waitress, Bryce, was amazing. She always had our drinks topped up before we realized we needed more and served our whole group (by herself) without making a single mistake.
I went to Callahan's on a Tuesday morning. 24 hours in advance, a member of our group came and told them we would would be coming ay 11am with a group of around 18 people. We arrived at 11am and were among the first in the door. They quickly seated us after moving some tables together and Bryce quickly took drink and appetizer orders. The drinks came out within 5 minutes and the appetizers came out about 10 minutes after we had ordered. Bryce took our orders and turned them in to the kitchen, coming by often to check on drinks and see if we needed anything else. 25 minutes after being seated we received bread and butter. The first 6 orders came out around 12:15, an hour after being ordered. The rest of the table received their food by 12:30. I understand we were a large group, but nearly an hour and a half of waiting is pretty wild.
The consistency of meat was all over the place, some medium rare looked well done, some rare was well done and my personal plate, a rare 9 oz sirloin, was not even seared on one side and felt like it had just come out of the fridge. Several members of our party were dissatisfied with how their steak was cooked, but feared sending it back due to the excessive wait we had already experienced.
This was my first time ever visiting Callahan's and I can honestly say that I was not impressed. This seems to be uncommon, however, as I've always heard great things. Perhaps someone failed to show up for their shift, or maybe a grill was not turned on when it should have been. I understand things happen and that is okay. Overall, Bryce provided excellent service and redeemed a bit of the experience. If our server had been average, this review would likely be less positive....
Read moreThis restaurant was our go to place to eat when we want a steak. Unfortunately, after last night's experience it was possibly the last time. MR Michael the "new manager" needs a new line of work while I understand the old manager retired surely there were other choices. For the 1st time EVER we were unhappy with our steaks. My husband and I order the same thing and both steaks were so tough it was laughable. We were planning to take the 3/4 of each steak home to feed it to the dogs as a treat and say nothing. The bill comes and we realize they didn't bring our shrimp. So we ask to talk to the manager. Here is a tip for next time Michael if you are going to roll your eyes and laugh at your customer while the waitress is telling you what happened you should probably do it far enough away so the customer can't see you! You come to our table and don't even bother to introduce yourself. I had to ask the waitress later what your name was. You basically accuse us of lying to get our steaks free, because we wanted to not waste them and feed them to our dogs. Because they like beef jerky! So after agreeing to leave the 2 steaks for you to throw away you removed them and the shrimp(that we never got) from our bill. You never came back you sent the waitress with the bill, no apologies, no nothing. Leaving with 2/3 of my family hungry with no apology and our stomachs still empty we came home to eat captain crunch and it was the best service we had all night! Michael I hope you are family because only family should run such a great business into the ground. By the way the waitress was very good eve after the debacle of bad food for we left her 20% of...
