I really struggled between a 3 and 4 star review but decided to go with the 4 because overall it was a good experience. We went today (Saturday) for brunch and I was particularly excited for Eggs Benedict as it’s one of my favorites. The hollandaise was a huge disappointment however- it had split and didn’t have enough lemon and it looked oily and didn’t cling to the eggs/ham/English muffin like it should. It was probably the worst eggs Benedict I’ve ever had. I thought maybe it was a one time flaw but after looking at a few other images online of the eggs Benedict, I think they just don’t know how to properly make a hollandaise. However, my husband ordered chicken and waffles and it was delicious! 100% would recommend ordering that. He also ordered a Bloody Mary to drink and it was pretty good but there were some very large pieces of garlic in it- the garlic should probably be minced better in the future. We will likely return and give it another shot because the prices were good and the service was quick and pleasant. But I don’t think I’ll risk the eggs Benedict again which is disappointing.

My first visit here was during the Pride event. I'm currently using a cane and the server immediately offered me a chair. She grabbed a menu and a glass of water. I ordered the avocado fries and a lemonade. The fries were good and served with a lime, but the dipping sauce it came with was not my favorite. It was more spicy than fresh and it didn't seem to balance the avocado well. The lemonade was great and I'm fairly certain it was made in-house. I highly recommend you give it a try. All in all, I will definitely be going back. My second visit here was better than the first. Once again, service was impeccable. The food is fantastic. 🤌🏻 try the grilled cheese with blackberry or the apple panini. The avocado fries are still fantastic. The sauce is greatly improved over the last time. This is one of my FAVORITE locally owned restaurants in the area. Anytime someone asks where to eat when they are visiting, I tell them The Park House is a MUST GO.

My first time here with two of my kids, and what a wonderful experience it was. The staff was very friendly and welcoming from the moment we arrived up until we left. Darla was our server and she was genuinely polite and accommodating. My son ordered the cheeseburger, my daughter ordered the waffle and fruit, and I ordered the chicken salad with a croissant and tomato soup, and it was all delicious. We sat outside to enjoy the great weather and the atmosphere was perfect. Sam Cooke and The Supremes were playing softly in the background. If I were alone I would have ordered a drink. That’s how perfect the setting was. We will definitely be back and I will highly recommend!!

Stopped in at this place today at around 2 for a quick cocktail at the bar. Although it was during Siloams Dogwood Fest, it was not in any way very busy at the time. Ordered one beer and one glass of champagne. Got the beer, and the bartender brought our tab. Issue being that we hadn’t even gotten the other drink yet. She proceeded to run my card, drop it off, and then turned to walk away. Thankfully, my fiancé got her attention in time to remind her that she hadn’t even poured my drink. Ok...so maybe she was just having an off day...no biggie at this point. After a few minutes, my soon to be father in law came into the bar to join us for a beer. He then waited for over 15 minutes for said beer, but never even got the chance to order it, so he decided to leave and go to the beer garden instead. Mind you that this bartender had a whole 3 people other than us sitting at the small bar. She was apparently overwhelmed with how to make a dirty martini for another guest, and the guest himself had to tell her how to make it ingredients wise...which as a bartender myself, I know that is basic Bartending 101. Since I am in the line of business, and have been for 25 yrs, I honestly very rarely complain. I know that people can have bad days. This was beyond that though. If the bartender had made up for her extreme lack of performance with some personality, apologies or just plain old customer service skills, I wouldn’t be writing this review. In addition, I am surprised no one else employed there even seemed to notice. Someone should have jumped in to save the day. I sincerely hope that someone higher up in the business takes the time to ensure the employees are properly trained, and in the future, hires people with the kind of personality needed for this line of work. Mind you, I am not saying the entire establishment was awful, but it only takes one person to create a bad...

Two weeks ago on a Friday my wife and I tried to eat lunch here. We saw maybe five people total there ahead of us. We ordered drinks and an appetizer which we received in a timely manner. My tea was warm and melted the ice pretty quick but hey, the appetizer was good as usual so no big deal. Fifteen minutes go by and our waitress tells us our food is going to be out soon. Ten minutes later she tells us they’re working on it and she promises it’s almost on its way and apologizes.Ten minutes later she tells us she’s sorry and that they have a large table in the back that’s taking longer than normal. Ten or fifteen minutes later she apologizes again and now adds that they only have one cook today. ( It’s Friday around 2:00 pm and you only have one cook? Okay, but why is that my fault?). Finally an hour after we came in our waitress comes with our food. Only it’s not what we ordered. DONE! We politely asked for our check and they were more than happy to charge me for two drinks, an appetizer and an hour of my life, even though we were still hungry. If you’re short staffed how about telling patrons they may have an hour wait when they enter and let them decide if that’s convenient or not? This place has gone down hill fast. Having an owner/manager who is an alcoholic is probably its biggest problem. But a close second is its turnover rate. And now in order to bring in customers they have there waitresses dress as though their working at JJ’s. That may work if you’re in your twenties, but not you’re fifties. It just draws a bad element which is clearly there for just the alcohol. That’s fine if you want to be dive bar. Just stop calling yourself a restaurant. Especially when you can’t make two...

Wonderful old house, well decorated. Very noticeably clean. I understand a BnB upstairs. Park views with water on 2 sides, huge windows. Steady bar clientele, at restaurant bar, but small town friendly drinkers, still quiet for diners. Well thought out menu. Produce, salads were remarkably and noticeably fresh. Great care, selection, knowledge base by manager, owner, waitress, bartender and quite possibly your server, all being the same person, depending on time of day. If there is a "wait" you will do it outside on the very large veranda porch, keeping inner hallways open for the 1 woman powerhouse to move from job to job amongst her other employees. Also keeps the 12 n 15 foot ceilings with beautiful crown moldings at doorways, at a minimum, from carrying too much noise possibly disturbing your dining experience. Food quality verges on pristine. Presentation is well thought out, it shows that this young woman has pride in her establishment. Meats fresh, adequate wine list for a smaller town, matched to her foods. It is a moderate large space, high ceilings, 3 main rooms. I was told by my host that the property had "turned" over many times until this owner arrived and she anchored her restaurant here for years now and all the way through the Covid years!! Not an easy feat. Good standard American fare, moderate prices, good honest drinks, nice clientele, long term, dependable employees. Food quality excellent, you can tell she checks every box of produce that comes in her back door. A restaurant worth your time and consideration, a place to spend a hard earned and honest "buck" and get your money's worth, in a...
