Sorry to say that today we were really let down by Egg Parlor. We want to support local business and we had been to Egg Parlor once before with the eggs Benedict pretty good and the grand slam breakfast sandwich also good, service a little slow. Today we were excited to give this place another shot but it fell flat on its face. We were seated, waited patiently for a waitress, saw her but she walked past us three times. She did state once that she would be right with us but we sat and waited. 15 minutes in, nothing is on our table, no waters, no coffee and no waitress. 20 min in, waitress comes, we order 1 coffee, 1 mimosa and state that we would like to get the tab for a couple we saw on our way in.
We are trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. It really wasn’t that busy for a small breakfast spot but they looked like they were short or didn’t have any runners because nothing seemed to be working. Waited another 5 to 10 min, coffee brought to the table with no cream or sugar and no mimosa or water. Waitress states she is waiting for the drink from the bar. Alright, can I also get that tab for our friends table before they leave and the cream and sugar. Ok I’ll be right back with that. Well then she was gone. We waited another ten minutes and then stopped a separate waitress that had been walking by and asked to talk to a manager. We waited, our waitress came to the table and asked us what we wanted. So this was the last chance we were going to give. I stated that I’d really like to talk with the manager, second time requesting, cream and sugar, my girlfriends mimosa and the bill for our friends table! The waitress tells us that they cancelled the mimosa, she doesn’t know why and states she will go get the manager.
So we wait, no manager, no staff, no waitress! So we give up, my girlfriends states that I should just go inside and get it figured out, which I do. Talked with the manager, she seemed like she was in over her head, didn’t realize there was a complication in her restaurant, she apologized and I simply stated that the only thing we want to do is buy our friends breakfast and get out of here, you guys blew it this morning. They gave us a gift card and we stated we weren’t looking for charity or gifts we just wanted a nice breakfast and to support local business. They insisted on the gift card which is the reason for one star but we probably won’t use it, we don’t want local businesses to lose money, we are trying to give them money for services.
This was a Sunday morning, a prime time for a business like this one, to shine and be ready to make a positive impression with its customer base. Unfortunately it failed. It looked as though there were others that were not pleased with their experience as well. We may give it another chance in the future but not anytime soon until they figure out staffing, managerial and business needs.
I will say that Quad City Family Restaurant did save the morning for us. Really made a bad experience with this place into a positive experience with QCFR, which by the way was packed when we arrived and they rocked out. My family sat down 50 minutes before closing which should be enough to order and eat a meal. When our food was ready half of it was brought out and five minutes later the other half of our family received theirs. I did not receive half of my order and assumed that the waitress went to get it but she never returned. We asked another employee that was sweeping the floor around us to ask our waitress for the rest of my order. When our waitress returned she told me that the grill had been shut down and they were unable to prepare the rest of my food. This was 20 minutes before closing. This is when we also had to ask for the rest of my daughters order that had not been brought out yet either. At no point were we checked on or gotten refills, we had to flag down the waitress and ask for more to drink. When I asked for more coffee the waitress left and when she returned five minutes later I was told that they had dumped out the rest of the coffee since they were "technically closed". This was at 2:02, two minutes after their listed hours. We took the hint and quickly finished up and got ready to leave. While my wife and 5yo daughter were in the bathroom the lights were turned off whice I found to be very rude and unprofessional. We walked out the door at 2:09pm, 9 minutes after their"closing" time. So today I decided to place a to-go pick up order on their website and upon arriving to get my order the place was closed!!!! But they took my payment and confirmed my order!! I have been calling the establishment all day and have heard nothing back!! This is beyond unprofessional and honestly just crazy to me!!!!
UPDATE it is Wednesday a few days after placing my order and going threw this whole fiasco. I have been calling the restaurant since Monday with NO RESPONSE OR ANSWER.. finally called and got threw to a person today. They did NOT apologize or show any remorse put me on hold… then proceeded to try and tell me there was nothing they could do it was a computer error not a human error. When I expressed how this was unacceptable she then tried to offer me a gift card! Why would I want a gift card after going threw all of this with them? Then she FINALLY apologized after I expressed how it was disappointing that nobody had reached out or apologized. She then finally offered me my money back after saying something along the lines of “well our system didn’t take any cash from you” WHAT?!!! this almost sent me over the edge being that she basically is accusing me of stealing from them WHEN THEY STOLE FROM ME.
