I don’t normally leave negative reviews, But this place definitely needs one. My wife and I came in for dinner with another couple on a date night. We were literally driving through the area and my buddy told me to pick somewhere. I picked The Docs Inn based on things I’ve heard about this place in the past. I had heard they had great food. That couldn’t be any further from the truth.
When we came in, we were not greeted. I had to ask if we could sit down or wait to be seated. The friendliest (the other one was clearly leaving and very grumpy) of the two bartenders turned around and told us we could sit wherever we wanted. He did not come over with menus, or ask us about drinks. I had to get up and go to the bar to ask for menus.
The menus were a single sheet of paper, dirty paper at that. The menu was extremely limited. For my experience in food service, I realized very quickly that they did not offer any fried options. Very simple items, with very simple sides. We figured how bad could they screw up a sloppy Joe or a chicken wrap. But, they did.
The chicken was pre-cooked, you could tell right off the first bite, very firm and chewy. The wrap was full of way too much ranch, your basic iceberg lettuce from a bag, and a couple other specs of tomato and onion. The baked potato that I was served with my meal, that I had to pay two dollars extra for, tasted like sweet soapy water. I know that sounds strange, but that’s the only description I can come up with.
My wife had the tacos, about the only thing that wasn’t bad. My best friend ordered the sloppy Joe, and it was awful. The meat tasted like it had been sitting around for weeks, and the bun was soggy. All in all, we will not be returning to this place to eat again.
This place may have been good at one time, but it is definitely not what it once was before. I hope the owner sees this, and makes some changes. Especially seeing as all four of us made multiple trips to the bathroom, the rest of the evening.
Please be better...
Read moreTalk about a bad experience. We went to the location and ordered food to go for 3 of us ($42 worth of food plus a $5 drink while waiting). We got home to find that we were missing all 3 of our sides!! Called them to let them know what happened and we'd be stopping back to get the rest of our food. The guy on the phone sounded annoyed that we were calling them out on their mistake and expecting it to be corrected.
Their fix? After one of us had to drive back there, making this person's meal cold by the time they got home, they gave us a generous $5 gift card! (sarcasm) Wow. After returning home we found yet another mistake. The person that went back for the rest of the food ordered their sandwich with no onions. What was on the sandwich? You guessed it, onions.
The food: Wings were bland, fries over salted, couldn't get the toppings right. The pulled pork and soup were good however.
The staff: The wait staff was really nice and attentive while we waited. I saw the gentleman right down our order and it was all correct on paper. Leads me to believe a new kitchen staff may be a good solution.
In the end, I had decent expectations for this place, but it was a complete let down. I would have gone higher on the rating had they seemed a little more concerned about the numerous errors and inconvenience they caused us. They at least should have refunded the sides, or made the gift higher to account for that....
Read moreWent last night expecting the top notch gyros and food we have historically had. Not going back unfortunately. We learned gyros not carved fresh; Italian beef sandwich good but had so very little meat--all bun, cheese and peppers. Then, after having looked at the menu, saw they had fish/chips with cod and also a catfish dinner. I cannot do catfish (muddy dirty taste), so I ordered the fish and chips. No malt vinegar.... Then noticed an awful taste with the fish. It was catfish. Asked waitress, who asked cook (not chef), who admitted to using catfish because he was out of cod and "you can't tell the difference anyway." Left with my stomach rolling.... Plus side, they did take off the fish and chip dinner from our bill. We understand that with the Pandemic it has gotten tough: however, if out of a key ingredient, please let...
