I have been to La Herradura in Silvis several times since they have been open. This review is of mixed opinion. I enjoy going to the Silvis location but had an experience recently that needs to be made aware of to those paying cash. We paid our bill with cash and the waitress, Nancy, said she would be back with our change. When she did not return we got up to go to front and met Nancy at the desk to get a bag for our leftovers. She did not offer our change back. Instead of making a big deal we left. Our bill was $45 and gave her $60. I want to point out she did a great job and was attentive. Usually, I tip between 20 to 25%. I understand times are tight but as a consumer I want to spend my dollars and I seek out great places with great experiences. I also work in a tip base industry and understand the value of tipping to service people. However, I have never taken advantage of my guest. In order to make a couple extra dollars. Instead, I’d rather have them coming back. My experience at La Herradura started exceptional but ended in disappointment. The food was great and arrived timely. The atmosphere was busy and loud. I am not sure when I will be back but will give the restaurant another try in distant future. In the meantime, there are other restaurants in the area where I can spend my money where I enjoy the whole experience and will not be taken...

I got the potatoes and Chorizo enchilada meal. I was disappointed in them as the chorizo was overcooked and the flour tortilla was not prepared as genuine Mexican enchiladas are made. Also, the enchilada sauce was not anything I am familiar with. It had a very distinct tomatoe taste to it. The tortilla is normally dipped in a sauce made from ancho peppers and quickly fried (before filling with ingredients). I was hungry so I did eat one. The beans and rice were okay but not the best. Our waitress went on a break which she did inform us she was doing and that someone else would check on us...that never happened. As we were there for well over two hours, no one came to refill our water. We had to go to the bar and have them refill our glasses. While my food was disappointing, I'm sure there are other things that are good. Atmosphere was nice but if the service isn't better on a return visit, it will be my last visit. When we got there it was 1 pm and they...

First time eating here. We got seated and waited on right away. Just beat the busy crowd on a Sunday Cinco de Mayo. My food was prepared as ordered and had amazing flavor! For the quality and quantity of food, the price was extremely reasonable. The only thing is I can't have alcohol so I ordered a virgin strawberry daiquiri, and my friend she ordered a regular one. I felt extremely tired and sick to my stomach, so I think I got her drink and she got mine. I haven't had alcohol in probably 35 years, and my stomach started hurting right away, and I felt like I was going to fall asleep before making it home. Other than that, everything else was great! I tried calling once I got home to ask if it was possible that they got switched, but the background was so loud that the girl that answered couldn't hear me and hung up. Just make sure you get the right drink if you can't...

I recently visited La Herradura in Silvis, Illinois, and while the experience was decent, it didn’t quite stand out. The Mexican-style dishes were solid and well-prepared, offering a range of familiar flavors. The food wasn’t bad by any means, but nothing about it wowed me or made me eager to return. Overall, it’s a good option if you’re in the area and craving some Mexican food, but it didn’t leave a lasting impression. I’d give it a 3.5-star rating. worth trying, but not a must-return for me.
