Ok , FYI, this is literally the first poor review that I’ve ever given . I give positive reviews all the time and just keep my mouth shut when something isn’t great. I’m a vegetarian. I don’t expect any special treatment when I go to restaurants. I was with a group . I knew I would find a salad , bread or potatoes to eat. I happily ordered the wedge salad and a baked potato. I asked them if they put bacon crumbles on the top they said yes . I said just please leave them off please . They told me they couldn’t do that. I asked if it was mixed in with the dressing ; is that why ? "No" . I asked if they were premade is that why they couldn’t give it to me without the bacon bits again a no. So I said, why can’t I just have it without the bacon bits on top ; since that’s the final step they said "that’s just the way the management requires it.". They make us put the bacon bits on the top. So I asked to see a manager . The manager comes tells me the same thing . that corporate will not let them sell it without the bacon bits even though it’s the final step and each salad is made to order. He used the words made to order ; if it’s made to order then why can’t they just leave off the final step , which is the bacon bit ? He can’t do anything about it. He says his upper manager won’t let him. I said well OK then let me see head manager . (mind you this is the third person I’ve seen) She I’m actually writing a review about the salad because it’s so lame. I’m doing it long so stupid. I’m gonna call and I’m gonna do it. I’m gonna call her and get her cause it was. I said it doesn’t matter your religion doesn’t matter if you’re allergic she goes all of it. She goes. No they don’t care yeah come on baby boy come on. Don’t forget her food OK comes says that corporate won’t let her sell it without the bacon bits. I asked what if I had a food allergy? "No we still have to put them on" she said . What if I was Muslim or Jewish and couldn’t eat pork ? or if it was some other Religious restriction? "No” . All three employees the server, a supervisor, and a manager said corporate will not let them sell the salad without the final step of the bacon bits, regardless of anyone’s religious or food restrictions. Let me add that my mom has just passed that was her favorite restaurant and we went there to celebrate her first birthday since her passing . I honestly think my mother would be appalled. She always made sure to have something for everyone when she cooked meals and accommodated everyone’s taste. They really disgraced the whole evening by this behavior. Everyone at the table said we never come. They all never come back again because of how completely ignorant Corporate must be. It was so bad it was funny just not in the good way! So ridiculous...
Read moreWe used to love going to this place when it used to be Stray Steer ages ago and was located on Valley Fair. Ever since they moved here and changed their name, things have gone right downhill.
First, let’s talk about the food. While it is true they have a very wonderful twice baked potato, if they were just going to sell their only good item, then they should just put up a taco stand somewhere.
I have ordered every single thing on this menu at one time or another. None of the items are good and they all take forever to cook. I have never gotten a steak cooked properly to temperature. Don’t even get me started on the burgers. See my other reviews for the very best places to get burgers in Simi Valley. Sutters is not it.
Their fries are all right, if you are lucky enough to get them hot, which is a crapshoot. The other side dish I used to like to get was the macaroni and cheese, but only if they could possibly make it very well done and brown and bubbly on top, and they are just absolutely incapable of doing that. Their salad is a pathetic iceberg wannabe. And who dishes out canned green beans?
Now let’s talk about the service. I am elderly, I am Jewish, I am gay, and my black business partner and I were treated in an extremely bigoted fashion here. I am not going to go greatly into detail as I had before but suffice it to say my Sentrylogin.com business of which I am the CEO of 22 years, and which has a larger installed base than TikTok and LinkedIn combined, is in the process of purchasing all of Griffin Plaza from the family trust that currently owns it.
It is catch as catch can as far as hours, as evidently they are not open for lunch according to Google.
Also, this restaurant does not provide veterans discounts!
The food is pitiable. The decor is dated and dusty, and the service is abysmal. I cannot recommend...
Read moreWhere can I start, I really wanted to like this place.. It's so close to where I live, I could have walked. So, we were seated all was good, the waitress took our drink order. We patiently waited, we received our drink at a reasonable time. Then an older lady whom was a waitress walked up, and stated sorry we like changing people around (while touching/sliding her hand across my partners arm, I figuered she looks old,.. Older people don't tend to know much about personal space). Although we were never moved.. We just laughed it off. Moving forward there was an other waitress who would make it a point to not glance but stare our direction everytime she walked by. As she stared she looked disturbed, disapointed. At one point, my partner, and I even looked at eachother at the same time in confusion. To put the cherry on top. When we received our food. I was given a dirty fork. It had been used, I saw white marks as if someone had just used it for ranch or some type of white dressing.. Idk. I was confused, why a fork was even brought to the table concidering the tables are preset. I even told my partner I felt like I was in the twilight. Still gave a humble tip. I don't plan on going back. Maybe the staff had a bad day, or are used to receiving bad mannered customers. I tend to be overly nice to people whom I know are going to handle my food. Any way, who knows.. But thats no reason to treat the next...
