Simply put, Antonio's is the BEST FAMILY RESTAURANT IN SIMSBURY. Now, I'm a little biased - I've been the house magician for a few years (Fridays 5-8) - but I've brought my family here since we moved to town in 2011. It's been here for a loooong time and has a very loyal clientele. It's for good reason too! The food is great (think really good home cooking and try the spinach pie); the humorous menu changes to keep things fresh (Steven writes a different article each week); there are new specials about every two weeks (my favorite is the Irish Dinner near St. Patrick's Day); the atmosphere is much fun; the staff are wonderful, friendly and really attentive; and get this - given time THEY KNOW THE KIDS' NAMES AND YOURS TOO! It's kind of like Cheer's "where everybody knows your name." Some booths even have a plaque honoring really loyal customers. Also, it's a playful place. There's always a toy for each child, a HUGE basket of lollipops up front, and on each table there are Trivial Pursuit cards, a Magic 8 Ball, a Barrel of Monkeys, crayons, and the booths along the windows have a wonderful book where you look up all sorts of interesting things about your birthday. At Halloween they even have some sneaking things like a giant rubber spider that randomly drops from the ceiling. And, don't miss Cabbage Night - bring a can of food for the local food pantry, and your kids get to launch rolls of TP into the trees - pure joy! I especially love the sign on the Men's Room door, "A father is a man who keeps pictures where his money used to be." Antonio's obviously builds community. There are even large fish tanks, and a motorized train set is suspended from the ceiling running up to 4 times an hour. Finally, Antonio's has heart. They gather toys for children in need at the holidays, support every sports team in town, the Scouts, and set a good example by being involved in Simsbury. The Antonio's are very grateful and give back to the community in countless ways. Go! You'll be glad you did. - The Rev. David Reed-Brown,...
Read moreHad the pleasure of meeting the owner Steve, due to an unfortunate circumstance of my cars wheel cracking and tire popping when I hit a very deep pothole when going thru the old Dunkin’ Donuts drive thru in the Antonios parking lot. After speaking with Steve and getting the issue resolved; which Steve was very quick and amazing at helping me anyway he could all the while making things as seamless as possible to get the problem taken care of I decided in return to give his restaurant a try.
I’m thrilled and happy to say, the food is delicious, portions are beyond generous and pricing is not bad at all for the portions you receive! I can’t comment on the in-dining experiences and service as I’ve never sat down, but I can comment on their takeout and it’s perfect! When you walk in, you’re greeted with a friendly smile by one of the waitresses/waiters (the manager (not so much 😡😤😠) from my experience he was actually very rude and it was quite disturbing to interact with him....I can surely understand he is busy, but no need to be mean, standoffish and run your mouth about someone “being in the way”, when I’m strictly at the counter trying to pickup my food AND out of YOUR way!) the waitresses/waiters then quickly check for quality and accuracy, pack the food into a bag, ask you if you need utensils, napkins, etc, take your payment and send you on your merry way!
So essentially, everything at Antonios (except for the manager, who needs a talk from Steve to address how he addresses customers...you can’t pick and choose favorites and who you want to be nice too Mr. Manager...!!!) was perfect and I will continue to support Antonios when in the need of delicious and tasty comfort food! Keep up the good work Steve!!...
Read moreOur daughter and grandchildren were visiting and thought it would be fun to go since we took her there years ago. What a mistake, service was AWFUL, waited 20 -30 minutes for the toddler meals and over 45 for our meals, never received water and items items from our order never made it . Wait staff never stopped by to ask how we were doing /needed anything. We will not go back there are many other local restaurants we will support instead. -Steve thank you for your personal response, much appreciated, we do also appreciate that each meal is made from scratch, and did appreciate the drinks being removed from the bill and told the hostess that as well. Your hostess was very nice as was our waitress. However I would like to clarify that I do not run a business out of my house, never have and do not intend to, you may have me confused with someone else. We left close to 50 minutes after getting there because we took the adult meals to go since the children were getting very ancy, as children do. And you are correct the restaurant was crowded. I apologize if I offended any other patrons because of my actions, that was not my intent. I am sure Antonio's will continue to be a staple in the community because of the pride you take in your restaurant and staff. Thank you again for...
