I think this place was opened way too soon. Initially I wanted to just get a single hamburger and small fry but the price difference between that and getting a double hamburger, small fry and drink was maybe $0.35; this place has weird pricing for a fast food joint. The music was loud both inside and outside the restaurant (at least it was good music and not acoustic diarrhea) and the interior of the restaurant had awkward ergonomics and seemed too small for a fast food restaurant. The employees seemed a bit frazzled and were crashing into each other while they tried to work and the kitchen seemed backed up for some reason; this wasn't during a lunch rush and there wasn't a lot of customers in the store so I don't know what was going on. Admittedly the employees had a weird awkward kitchen to work in so I don't blame them.
The burger was okay but reminded me of a ragged White castle slider; the 'double' hamburger would be considered a junior hamburger at most other fast food restaurants. The clamshell box it was in was squished into the bag with my fries for the record so my burger looked like someone's wig stuffed into the box.
I think the fries were supposed to be shoestring fries but they looked like deep fried twigs; at least they were edible (but not great). One of the Pepsi syrups on the soda machine ran out as I was getting soda; I got a partial cup of fizzy water instead of Pepsi.
I paid $10.11 for the meal and it was a chintzy and cheap meal, to be honest. I've had worse but I've had better. If Freddy's steps their game up I might come back. SIoux Falls has an awful restaurant industry so their competition shouldn't be too...
Read moreFirst time ever eating a Freddy’s! Pretty good for a new restaurant.
They’ve certainly got enough workers, I counted 20! Sonic on the West side should take notes as they seem to always be short staffed, definitely not a problem at Freddy’s.
We got burgers and cheese curds for the most part. The meat flavor is pretty darn good and the cheese curds were delicious!
We also tried their dirt and worm sundae, the ice cream was good, tastes like old school home made but the toppings were a bit disappointing. There was less than 1 Oreo cookie worth of crumbs and 3 gummies, a little whipped cream and a cherry. Toppings were definitely lacking. MORE DIRT!!
One of the workers stopped by the table with a mistake that I believe was a brownie shake that they let us have which was pretty awesome! Gotta love free food! That was actually really good, better than the dirt and worms that we ordered.
The service? Five stars! Super friendly staff I got up to take some of our trays and one of the workers was right there, “I can take that for you”. So, I turned around to grab the rest of our trays and when I turned around a different worker was right there, “Can I take those for you?”
Overall really good! A bit on the slow side, the dining room wasn’t very busy but the drive-thru was pretty slammed. About 10-15 minutes to get food so not horrible. I think after their workers find their groove and things get more efficient, this will definitely be a five star fast food joint. We’ll be going back,...
Read moreThe first two things that struck me was the very red and white checker decor and a very familiar but stripped down menu - both of which were very reminiscent of other burger franchises in the city. In fact, the experience, while pleasant, was strangely familiar in almost every aspect to other places I've been. What differed was subtle differences in the food. The cheese curds were a lightly breaded mozzarella; the burger toppings had a slightly fresher aspect; and the restaurant was louder. That last fact was a major negative due to the cheap, open concept dining area that new restaurants seem to find trendy. One could barely hear the cashier or the person sitting across from you. Probably not well suited on a busy date night. One weird thing I noticed was how the white people were up front but the POC were relegated to the kitchen. This may have been coincidence but struck me as odd. All in all, despite an overall good dining experience, I am having a hard time seeing the point of this unoriginal and tone deaf fast food restaurant. It blatantly copies other burger joints I can hold a conversation in and can get a wider variety on the menu. This place needs to find its own theme and...
