First, let me explain how I found the restaurant. I was initially looking for an eBay shot. The name of the restaurant came up as a bike shop. I was in on this. I started asking about the lunch menu. They told me they have a red beans and rice with sausage plate or four dollars. Wow, wow what a deal for 4 bucks đ. OK, I love red beans. I also love grilled fish. They have a fish plate with salad or less than $20. I asked the waitress what a strip or one would cost with my red beans she had to go check so understand the fish plate comes with salad, then sides, and whatever the fish plate comes with, I only wanted the grill. You came back said the price one script and red beans only no salad no sides no bread about 20 bucks with the drink and of course , tip ! It seems a little pricey to me, but I was hungry, so I gave it a shot. The food came out. Red beans were excellent, the grilled fish on the other hand. I found it to be raw in the middle. It was a nice relay strip of what they told me was Maui That were cooked parts were excellent delicious flavor very light on the salt. Good excellent seasoning. I did mention the raw middle to the waitress they offered to put it back on the grill. I do not eat sushi. I declined the offer. Itâs been my experience when you send things back and you finally give it back that food is hot and everything else is cold, not to mention the shock cutting open the VA and seeing raw fish uncooked fish Iâve never had grilled fish raw in the middle ever anywhere I eat. I recommend everyone goes there to let them know that you want your grilled fish thoroughly cook Iâve never been to this restaurant before , I cannot say enough good things about the service casual atmosphere , The Parade of bicycles hanging from the ceiling I liked it. Also, if you deduct four dollar red bean plate, I paid $16 for a half cooked single Peace of fish . Iâll probably go back if Iâm hungry and itâs a Monday and Iâll only get red beans and rice plate for 4$ . Iâm immune deficient , Viet Nam Vet , Agent Orange has messed me up. I have to be careful about what I eat. I cannot take the chance of eating raw in anything, it could kill me . They did not offer a partial discount for the HALF RAW $16.00 piece of fish . Needless to say, I lost my appetite, and left 3/4 of the food there . So , in conclusion. Service great , decor great , grill fish , not so great đ€Ź Iâm 72 and have never posted about a restaurant before. I think it is important for people in my situation to know...

From frequenting Galatoireâs, Desi Vega, BR Prime, etc, to Janie Brown, Bonnie Câ, Terry Lynnâs, T LeBlancâs, SouthSide etc. We mostly try to do non-chain, non-big business. KYâs is one of our multi visits a week restaurants. Food is consistently good and people are welcoming, friendly and professional, This along with a great âold townâ atmosphere that is comfortable and relaxing. Service has always been impeccable. Like most every industry these days, employees are hard to get and retain and we all just have to make the best if it. Even with these challenges and with the high number of customers that frequent KYâs, if you want a great meal at a great price, go to KYâs. Best moist, fresh grilled chicken we have ever eaten. If you like a hint of garlic, they serve â HOMEMADEâ house dressing that can go on any salad or as a dip, delicious! Salads have crisp lettuce. Awesome cheese fries and fried shrimp. You canât go wrong. Give these small local businesses your business and patience. They are all trying their best to stay alive. Adjusting to no available workers sometimes requires unplanned outages. KYâs food is worth a little...
Read moreThis place is in a cool spot and it looks like a great little restaurant. Unfortunately the looks donât translate to the food or the service. We got three poboys. Two roast beef and one shrimp. The shrimp tasted ok but was light on the shrimp compared to most places in town. The roast beef was tough and the gravy tasted like it was from a can. Incredibly disappointing considering the cool cafe vibe and the high prices. For $17 roast beef poboy I would expect it to rival some of the best in town. It was actually one of the worst that Iâve had.
So the restaurant responded quickly. Good by them although all they did was defend their poor performance. Yes they gave us extra napkins that we didnât request but that doesnât change the 35 minutes that it took to serve three poboys nor does it make up for the high prices for sub par poboys. Do yourself a favor and check out La Pines Cafe. Way better and the prices are...
