First off, I'm a huge fan of the Original Jugs. This new place, not so much.
Arrived for lunch at about 12:45pm and was told there would be a 15 minute wait due to "letting the girls catch up", as there was only two server working. The gentleman explained that this early part of the day is usually slow, so they didn't have more staff. (really, lunch time is a slow time....???)
Finally seated and the very friendly server (Tiffany) came to take drink order. A short time later the beverages arrived and a bit after, the food order was taken. Two lunches (Burger and Nachos), and an appetizer (Blackened Tuna).
The wait was longer than typical lunch but to be expected with a busy time of day. Server offered an apology and said they had two scheduled servers not show up. Hmmmm.
Finally the lunches arrived. One burger and an order of Nachos. The burger was good, as expected. The nachos were terrible. Cheese on top was cold, queso was room temperature at best and the chicken was also room temperature. This is completely opposite of the Original Jugs and their fantastic nachos. I alerted the server to the substandard dish and she offered to take it back. I explained that was not necessary due to time constraints but I would like if the manager could stop by so I can discuss the issue. She said she would check and let me know.
Finally, the appetizer arrived. About 10-12 minutes after the entrees. It wasn't good, but who really cares at this point.
The server returned to the table after a short time and stated the manager was too busy and would not be coming to speak to me. I asked for the check and an electronic device was presented to me to pay with a credit card. I paid and asked for a receipt. The server said she would get one and left.
The receipt was retrieved and given to me. Upon inspection, I discovered I had been over charged by a few dollars. On the way out, I mentioned to the served who seemed genuinely sorry and offered to give me cash from (assumedly) her tips. I told her I appreciated the gesture but declined and left.
All in all, I really wanted to have a good experience. I do want them to succeed and thrive. The food was not what it could be. That happens. The server, while trying her best, was clearly not properly trained or set up for success. The whole endeavor seemed rushed.
The most frustrating part was the manager refusing to come out. All of these points would have been made to him/her in an effort to make for a better experience for future guests. Their unwillingness to even come out shows that this mediocre experience will soon become the culture there.
We drove past the Original Jugs to give some support to the new location. That was not a smart move. Do yourself a favor and stick to the Original... At least for a few months until they can get this new place...
Read moreMy wife and I love Jug's Hitching Post , and we were excited to try out Jug's Pub and Grill in Slinger, as it is closer to our house. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed in the food quality compared to Jug's Hitching Post and in comparison to other eating options around the area. To start, after we were seated, several other tables were seated, and servers came over to take their orders. After about 10 minutes, a server stopped by our table, asking if anyone was helping us and offered to take our order. We ordered the nachos with a six-dollar upcharge for steak, and I ordered the Jug's burger, and my wife ordered a chicken Caesar wrap. By the time our nachos arrived, other tables seated after us were almost finished eating their meals. The overall flavor of the nachos was good, but it was pretty upsetting to see that the six-dollar upcharge "steak" was actually just chopped up roast beef lunchmeat. I did speak to the server about this, and she mentioned that other people have also been complaining about this and apologized. The server also mentioned that she has not been to the original Jug's, and she has heard from quite a few people she has served who are expecting the quality of Jug's Hitching Post, and they have been expressing their disappointment. During our visit, we also overheard the table next to us discussing their disappointment in the quality of food served. Unfortunately, when my wife's chicken Caesar wrap arrived, the chicken was quite dry, and my burger was no longer very warm. The bun on the bottom had disintegrated entirely and was nonexistent due to moisture and the type of bun used. It was very disheartening for us to see a restaurant that prides themselves on such high-quality food at Jugs Hitching Post serving the quality of food at this new location, especially at their price point. I hope there is a significant improvement in the quality of food being served at this location otherwise myself and, I feel, many others will not...
Read moreWe were very excited to try the new Jugs in Slinger. The building looks great, it was nice to see the guy formerly from Polanco's working there, and also no waiting when we walked in. All of the booths in the dining room were filled. There were only a couple tables in the center that had patrons eating, but not jammed packed.
Now to the feedback: Hostess didnt know how to work the tablet for seating, at least not efficiently We were seated, Kayla K. was our server. She took our drink order within a few minutes after that. It took her a good amount of time (10-15 minutes) to bring the drinks to us, she did not have the 4 drinks on a tray, they were snuggled against her bosom, so that probably wasnt the most sanitary thing. When we got our drinks, she then took our order at 340 pm. It took about 50 to 58 minutes to get our food (we estimated it was between 430-438 pm). One thing to note, Kayla did keep our sodas refilled, and did say she wasnt sure what was taking so long. She did offer us salads, we declined. When the food was dropped off by the other lady, she dropped the food, didn't ask if we needed anything else and left quickly.
The food was just ok. It wasnt amazing, or worth the wait. We were disappointed not only for having super high expectations just to have them crushed, but we have read a lot of posts on the Washington County Foodies page and people were raving about their food and experiences, we didnt have that same experience.
Hopefully this feedback can help iron out some kinks with operations. Right now, after our experience today, I would not recommend the...
