Jiffy Burger — Restaurant in Smith Center

There's a reason this place has been here for generations and largely unchanged. A very "old-school" little place with caring, enthusiastic, staff and great food, at reasonable prices. We ran across it about a year ago on a road trip and now regularly make trips from Kansas City up into Nebraska. It's such a little gem of a place we always drive the 50 miles out of the way and add at least 90 min to our 5 hr drive so we can go there. Tasty fresh burgers and other sandwich items, shrimp baskets, chicken strips, etc, and a large selection of yummy sides. Our favorite thing is the milkshakes. Thick, creamy and very flavorful. Especially recommend the raspberry ones. They're the bomb! They're always busy both with locals and travelers. A real testament to the food. Sometimes, we stop on the way up and on the way back....

So.... me being from out of town (and state), I constantly look at reviews to decide if I go to a place or not. Seeing the number of 4 and 5 stars, I was skeptical. Mind blown! This is a rare gem to find. Not only in decor, but the balance of quality and pricing of the food. Little diner setting showcasing pictures of Elvis, Marilyn Monroe, and James Dean to name a few. Pricing could easily go for twice as much because the quality is awesome. I pay twice that in the big cities but the quality is half as good. To put the icing on the cake, the service was spot on. Quick to take orders and quick to serve. I’m talking teenagers taking orders and having fun doing so. Don’t see that very often. Truly is the heart of the country! Keep up...

I want to say that these girls were so sweet and people really like them which just felt nice to be around. I went here for the first time recently with a call in order to be ready in 10 minutes. I arrived and a coworker was there waiting for his food who had said he was there about 20 minutes before that. So, after about 25 minutes they call my name, cheeseburger and fries only $3.75!! The fries- half were edible & half cold and soggy. The cheeseburger- was good size for just the basic until I saw the super thin patty that I had to tear with my teeth like jerky. I gave a 3 because they were very friendly but my order, no thank you buy do go yourself as I hear their ice cream...
