In the past I've visited La Siesta Mexican Restaurant on numerous occasions. The food has been typically Mexican with good salsa and crisp chips, something not always found in a basic Mexican restaurant.
Tonight I took two good friends who were visiting from out of town. Yes, the place was slightly more crowded than normal but it was after 7:30 when we arrived. We were promptly seated against the far wall and the chips and salsa arrived within a normal amount of time. Eventually the waiter arrived and took our drink orders. He brought the water within a normal amount of time but it took nearly fifteen minutes for the one margarita to arrive. I ordered "on the rocks with no salt." When it arrived it was frozen. I didn't touch it. We then began our wait... and we waited... and we waited. After approximately 20 minutes we walked out... rather mad and disgusted. Our waiter passed our table numerous times, glanced at our menus but never came back to take our order. We left, drove up the street to Kroger for groceries and back home before someone in our party realized he'd left his phone in the restaurant. We rushed back and walked in to find the table just as we had left it, with the menus and the untouched frozen margarita still sitting there!!! The phone was under one of the menus so it was still there. No one said anything to us when we left OR when we went back in to retrieve the phone.
I"m not sure we will ever return even though it means driving to another Mexican restaurant a lot farther away than the half-mile that I live from the establishment now. One of the reasons for patronizing this location is that I, as a former public school teacher, taught one of the employees and is always nice to see her smiling happy face when I walk in. Oh that we'd had HER for our wait...

She ran by the table maybe 4 times to see if we needed anything, but literally ran by while she was asking to the point where she was already 3 tables down by the time we were trying to tell her what we needed. It just seemed like we were a inconvenience for her. Then we went to check out and we had bought one of the smart cards from my daughters school that had a coupon for this location as well as the free download of the coupon book for your phone. I pulled up the coupon on my phone on my way to check out (keep in mind you can only redeem coupons once) the man at the register pushed a button that redeemed the coupon but did not get the code he needed to put in the register for the discount. He asked me to pull it up again and I told him I could not, that it could only be redeemed once and he redeemed it when he pushed it. He tried to say he didn’t push anything and my husband told him “ yes you did, I saw you” then he said “well I did, but it’s the button I’m supposed to push to get the code but no code showed up”. I told him just wait I would run to my car (in the pouring rain) and get the actual coupon, which I did. While I was looking for that coupon in the book and after I had gotten back in from the pouring rain he decided to tell me, “oh I went ahead and applied the coupon “. Like really dude after you made me go out in the pouring rain to get the coupon cook because you messed it up on the phone to begin with and wanted to...

I've lived in Smyrna for 2 year's and this was my first time visiting La Siesta.
Before I reach for the salt and pepper I always sample my food first.
I had the Monday special which was 2 enchiladas, rice and beans.
It's a bit difficult finding good authentic refried beans and even harder to find good Spanish rice.
At La Siesta, I was pleasantly surprised that both were authentic tasting so needless to say, I ate the portions which I consider generous for the price of the lunch plate.
The enchiladas were just as delicious as the rest of my lunch and there was no need for me to reach for the salt or pepper.
The chips were not the best, a bit thick and dry, I suspect that they buy the chips in bulk and potentially has GMOs in them but again I don't know for certain and I could be wrong.
My server, his name was Able and he was very good at his craft.
When I walked into the restaurant I was greeted immediately and was seated in less than 1 minute.
Able greeted me as soon as I was seated, asked me what I would like to drink. I was in a bit of a hurry so I had placed my order at the same time.
My drink, chips and salsa were delivered very fast and I waited no more than 10 minutes before my lunch was served.
I will most definitely come back and try the dinner menu in the near future.
As far as price and value, take a look at the picture, you can not get this kind of meal for the price I paid at any fast food restaurant and the service there was quicker than if you walked into a Starbucks for one cup of coffee.
Hope this...
