I am a proffessional calligrapher, hand lettering artist, and spraypaint artist, so I visit hobby lobby pretty frequently since moving to the Smyrna area a year ago for calligraphy and art supplies. I also happen to be 30 yrs old covered in tattoos, look hispanic although I am native American, and usually dress in urban style clothing. So every single time I go in there I am very obviously followed around closely and watched like I am going to steal. I can understand the first time or 2 that I come in, but now even after a year of coming in and spending between 50 and 150 bucks every time, you would think that they would know that by now I am not a thief or a criminal. I understand that I may not look like a typical calligrapher, but after every time its really offensive and unbecoming. I even try to ask employees questions and they act disgusted to talk to me. If there was another art supply store close by then I would never go in there again. I spend good money with them every week and get treated like a criminal. I guess only clean cut white people should be buying...
Read moreRude condescending co manager on morning shift. Went to meet my husband at the sidewalk to grab my debit card right outside of the door and got accused of stealing by the co manager who then proceeded to yell at me and argue just being plain nasty towards me and wouldn’t even allow me to speak. She tried to tell me I couldn’t ever come back so I had to call the customer support hotline and filed a formal complaint which they assured me that I was able to go back whenever I wanted to and was not banned (not that I would ever want to unless that co manager was no longer there) customer service even said that the behavior the co manager presented was absolutely not ok and was the wrong attitude the company itself strives for. I have never been treated so awfully by a store employee before this incident. I have bipolar disorder, panic disorder, PTSD, and extreme anxiety. I almost had a physical panic attack because of how she kept yelling at me. This is not ok. It is not okay to speak to any human that way much less a customer for the company that you work...
Read moreI was in my car eating Chick-fila in the Hobby Lobby parking lot when it started to rain. I ate my meal quickly and made a mad dash into the entrance of Hobby Lobby with my drink and Chick fila bag in hand. It was pouring down rain. The bag was soaked from the rain and was disintegrating in my hand. I asked the manager if she had a trash can I could throw the bag in. She said "there is one outside." I said , "yes and it pouring down rain." She said, "well if we throw it away in the back room it might smell. You should go outside." I walked out side to throw a bag away bc THE MANAGER didnt feel like being accommodating. When I came from outside of the rain my clothes were sticking to me and my hair stuck to my face. I'm still in awe of her behavior. She might as well of put her middle finger to my forehead. Customer service died in a lot places, including Hobby Lobby. IT...
