Pizza and Beer go together like Batman and Robin. I don't come here nearly as often as I used with a Carlsbad location being much closer to me it's still nice to come to the original, at least for me. This was my first experience of pizza and beer outside of KPFM.
I've personally stolen their saying of Grub and Grog for many many years and most people never know where I got it.
The group seating and shared tables make it somewhat family friendly, but please be aware not everyone is here for your 12 year olds birthday lunch. Pizza's are actually pretty reasonable assuming your don't trying to get a half dozen ingredients. Here they tend to overcrust the ratio and offer a very cream ranch. Large salads are quite filling, but it's not called salad port. Separate ordering for food and alcohol can slow down the process, but when busy expect 45 minute wait. When the weather is great the outside seating is really nice, but can get crowded and this need'nt be said, but no alcohol beyond the patio. Parking is on the side and behind, but limited. Bathroms are pretty clean and service ok. The loud speaker sucks and they will probably mess up your name so I suggest going to something unique like my buddy Brian who uses his nickname El Conquistador which is fun. Celebrity names also encouraged as it's pretty muffled, but loud enough. Plenty cheese and hot you should definitely get the beer buddies and sometimes I don't even order the pizza. Dough can be alittle chewy, but it's not NY thin crust of Chicago deep dish, it's just delicious cheesy hot goodness.
This is not a brewery so I'm not going to hold them to the same standards so I always stick with the classics that I know rather than try some random named beer with unknown info on. Like with all PP's the front ordering area gets crowded, but here it's unique in how low the ceiling is. I'm not a tall person, but claustrophobia may be an issue. Standard PP wooden interior. My last excursion here was to eat after a metric century road bike ride from Irvine. Perfect place to carb reload aside...
Read moreI love pizza port itâs where I go on my day off after I take my beautiful dog to Del mar dog Beach. Itâs our ritual and routine during the week we enjoy the surf and the sand and then we go have some pizza and a beer today was not like any other day off, except there was a man in there that yelled at me saying get your dog away from me when we werenât even close to him, and I felt very nervous after I sat down very far away from the man, and enjoyed my beer while I was waiting for the pizza and contemplated leaving. He sat there giving us dirty. Looks and proceeded to take videos of my dog. Was just laying there on the floor very close to me. I might add we got pizza one of the team members came over and said Iâm sorry we have to ask you to leave because this gentleman is starting trouble with management about your dog , so we were pretty offended, but I understood even though this man was pretty much being aggressive towards us and not the other way around we went outside where I still felt like I couldnât even enjoy my lunch. I was just having one slice of pizza out of the medium pizza that I asked to go and I felt , I canât even tell you how I felt it was horrible again. One of the management came out and said weâre so sorry that this happened this is a dog friendly establishment so why am I being discriminated against when I see dogs in there all the time against one person who has an issue with dogs who cussed me out by the way, use the F word at me and I thought he was going to attack me. I was very afraid , so Iâm asking you what would you do should take legal action video of my dog sitting there with me doing nothing. Nothing at all and ruined my day off...
Read moreService was no good. I called to place a pick up order and arrived 15 mins later. I asked about my pizza and they said 15 minutes. That's good because the original estimate given was 30 minutes. I paid and went next door to 101 yogurt. I was there about 10 minutes. I went back to check on my pizza again and the didn't have record of my pizza. They lies and told me it came out awhile ago. As of this review, it's still less than 30 minutes from the moment I called to place the order.
They told me they need to remake it and it would be an additional 15. I did get my pizza within that time, so at least they rectified their mistake. Perhaps this is nit picky, but I would have preferred that they just admitted they gave away my pizza instead of lying and making it seem like it was my fault.
I ordered the San Clemente pizza and it was alright. I wouldn't call it pizza, really. More like a breaded taco. The dough is pretty standard. No seasoning, but fluffy. The bean sauce.... Was bean sauce. I dom: know how to critique it. The cheese wasn't spectacular, but it was good.
Overall, this is a place where I would go if I was in the area, but not go out of my way for. It's...
