Ride Solana Beach — Attraction in Solana Beach

I flew into San Diego for a work trip and searched for a surf board rental shop. Called around a couple of places and was referred to Ride Solano Beach. The location was perfect … maybe 200 yards from the Fletcher Cove beach. The parking was perfect… on-site and free! The price was perfect… 20 bucks for a board all day long! That was on Monday, everything was so good I decided to come back on Wednesday for a hour and half surf lesson.

This was exactly what I was looking for … easy, convenient and great prices. But even better was dealing with Joe. Super nice guy, easy going and a pleasure to be around. If I had not had work meetings I had to get to, I would have sat around and had a beer with him. Brodi the shop dog was also a pleasure! Positive energy abounds here.

Update - 6-26-24: I guess Google would not let me do another review so I have to edit the one I did last year. The shop is still great. Got two surf sessions in this past week. Joe is still great and Matt gave me and my surf buddy a shuttle ride right up to the beach. ...

My mom and my step dad and I went to San Diego for the week and decided we wanted to learn to surf. We needed rental boards and wet suits, joe set us up and was super friendly and got us set up for a surf lesson the next day too! $100 for 1 person for 2 hours. However joe gave us a group discount so for 2 people it was just $160! Which included boards and wet suits for the 2 hours. Trust me, the 2 hours were plenty! We lasted about 1.5 hours haha! Eric us was amazing and super helpful, I was able to stand and surf on my first day. He kept us feeling safe and confident no matter how many times we crashed in the water! We discovered Ride Solana which offers for a great price a Surf lesson for two with full equipment rental. After a short video introduction on the basics of Surfing we went to the beach with the Surf Master, one of the best Surfers in the world, he explained us several times with calm and dedication the correct position and every movement useful to surf. It was the best experience of my life, even more thanks to Joe, owner of Ride Solana Beach, he welcomed us as if we were brothers and was available to our every request. Anyone who passes by Solana should definitely stop and rent a bike or a surfboard here and above all we highly recommend the Surf lesson I never expected such a great experience.
