Dumpling Buddy — Restaurant in Somerville

I am not one to trust 1 star reviews, however this was a terrible experience. My boyfriend and I ordered the Shanghai Style dumplings, the pork and mushroom dumplings, and the moo shu chicken. When we arrived to pick-up, we watched the woman working pull dumplings out of store-bought frozen bags of dumplings from a freezer. After leaving a tip, we noticed that they had deliberately folded receipt to cover the previously established gratuity, essentially having us leave about a 35% tip unknowingly. Oh well, we thought. If it's good, that's what matters. It was not. The Shanghai dumpling wrappers were thick and gummy on the interior. The pork and mushroom dumplings were better texturally, yet they had almost no flavor without the dipping sauce. Both dumplings tasted as though they had been reheated in a microwave prior. And finally, the moo shu chicken: we both took a single bite, looked at each other, and said "nope". To quote my boyfriend it was "like warm coleslaw but way worse". It was served with warmed flour tortillas that looked exactly like ones you could get at Wegmans. Not sure what that was supposed to do but alright. Save yourself the money, find a decent Asian market, and buy the dumplings there to...

I wish I could give this place 0 stars, as it was that bad. The crab rangoons were just pastry stuffed with cream cheese. Not much flavor. The Yu Hsiang Beef, I don't even know what to say. I couldn't taste anything because it was so spicy. The vegetables and sauce added were very strange. It was so bad, that I spent the whole next day in pain, and I'll spare you the extra details. My roommate had the same experience from this food. I've been to a lot of different Chinese restaurants, and this is the weirdest food I have ever encountered. The lady was very nice to me and offered me tea at the counter, but I strongly urge you to avoid this place...

Do not order food from here. Ever. Everything I ordered was absolutely vile and inedible. I don’t think they change their fryer oil as everything fried has a strange smell consistency. The worst Chinese wings and scallion pancake I have ever had. The hot and sour soup was tasteless and bizarre. So...
