Sally O'Brien's — Restaurant in Somerville

Sally' O's , has an Irish Pub atmosphere , but a Great little room to hear Americana Music Left side is the bar with their regular cast of characters ( Elvis, Cigar Store Indian, Bucky) right side is the performance side with seating for maybe 30 , and Standing/Dancing space for another 15

Their regular bands are great ( Tom Hagerty , Les Sampou ,Patsy Hamel, Radioactive Rustlers, Stan Martin, One thin dime , Family Jewels ) each with their own favorites from the past and present they'll play for you . Weekend 6:00 early shows fit my Senior Schedule just fine thanks .

Stage is pretty small, but the sound system is GREAT , Dance floor can get cramped on a hopping evening , but that's all part of the fun.

They have decent pub food at ok prices - Good Burgers 8$ , I don't drink, so the drinks are just drinks to me , but they seem to be good sized reasonably priced

The place is not too hard to find right on the one way part of Somerville Ave in Union Square , parking is usually available somewhere on the block , we never had any real trouble in this neighborhood , but we did get pulled over once by Somerville PD in a Pickup Truck for... smoking Cigars in a MiniVan , No Charges Wer...

When I got there, there were a lot of people sitting at the bar but barely anyone sitting at the tables so I asked the bartender (who seemed to be the only one working at the time) if I should sit anywhere or someplace specific... he said anywhere. I sat at a table in the middle of the place and waited for him to come over and waited and waited. Most of the people sitting at the bar left and new people came in and he waited on them but never approached me (sitting at a table all alone in the middle of the place). Finally he brought menus to a table near me and he was close enough that I was able to ask if I could finally get a menu after sitting there for close to half an hour. He then claimed he thought I was part of a larger group that had been there earlier. Really? I talked to him when I got there confirming there weren't any assigned seating and was sitting there by myself the entire time. Food was pretty good service was good except for the door person who said I had to pay $10 (cash only) cover for the band and then after I dug $10 out of my wallet, let a party of 4 and a party of 2 in without paying since they only had cards and no cash. If I had known I would have lied about having cash or left. Band was pretty decent but music was beyond loud for a tiny place. I used airpods with ear protection and got a nice loud sound with no headache or ringing in my ear afterwards. Would recommend if you don't take cash and can get in for free. Food was good and fries where some of the best I have had recently. Hot fresh and crisp. Value is lost though if you tack on...
